Taken from chi.speakeasy.net

And it's getting slower and slower everytime I test.

illini,
I feel your pain, I've pretty much stabilized around 1100. They found a line problem approx 2 weeks ago to my house and fixed it and I was averaging 3600. Now I've gotten as low as 880. I'm kinda waiting it out to see if anything changes with the upgrade. I'm using a SB4100 modem and I'm starting to wonder if it's time to get a new one.

765 down, once again sad (it's like this every day), but not surprizing with all the leeching college kids back in town.

Of course latencies are ugly as hell too, baseline of around 90-100 with spikes to 250, I wish it was still fall break, rock solid 25-30 ms pings last week.... sigh...

I think they split nodes or something, my speeds are rocking, while it usually is starting to dip at this time.
The reason i say this is because i got disconnected from all IRC servers i was on at the same time during last nite, plus some other stuff that didn't reconnect automatically. Hope this keeps up

When a new update is released, it is released in a config file for the modems, as you can imagine this creates a buttload of traffic for everyone in your area. That could be the reason everything slows down during an update. Those configs arent very small

Do you know how big a modem config is??? It is very very very tiny!!! Check for your self pull hsdS1 or hsdS2 from 12.223.2.9 and see the file size...

Drew it sounds like according to one of your posts that you work at insight's "help desk" or as I would call it callcenter...which if this is true would not make you qualified to answer every post...some of which I read really sound like you dont have a understanding of how the "network" really works...if that is the case your post(s) states that you are an "Insight BB high speed internet technician." and after reading your posts I doubt that this is the case...

PS. You can correct me if I am wrong and I am not trying to be a a@@ about it but honestly I dont think you are an Insight Tech...Please feel free to prove me wrong
