| Help with Domain Transfer
Okay, last year I switched webhosts. When I signed up with the new host, I registered a domain for free, I wanted it to be sholnay.com - so I signed it up.. I got an email back saying it was taken. Duh, I had taken it, its been mine for the past 3 years.
They said I needed to transfer it - but how?
I emailed my original host (»www.anfyhost.com) and they said that it was impossible to get me the domain without running the risk of someone else registering it, and it would take 2 months before I would be able to register it. I said - whatever and registered the domain through anfyhost again - and had THEM point it to the new dns addy.
My question.. its time to switch again, and I WANT my domain name. I dont want to rely on anfyhost, and I dont want to pay their $13/year to register the dang name. How do I get MY address? What do I need to do? -- ||I'll have the lobster thermador ecrovets with bernaise sauce served in the purple salm manor with chalots and overshies, garnashed with truffle pate, brandy, a fried egg on top and spam.|| quotegame |

| You appear to be the rightful owner of the domain name sholnay.com, assuming you are Shaun Tolnay:
Registrant: Shaun Tolnay (SHOLNAY-COM-DOM) Sholnay.com 1214 North Third Street Burbank, CA 91504 US 818 848 8060 sholnay@aol.com
The registrar is listed as DotRegistrar but the status is listed as REGISTRAR-LOCK. This means your registrar will reject any transfer requests for the domain automatically until you remove this lock. Whether you can deal with the registrar directly or you have to go through your hosting company I don't know, but you ought to be able to get someone to remove the lock if you choose to transfer your domain to another registrar. I would start by trying to contact DotRegistrar first, since your name is listed as the domain registrant.
I guess it's just another example of why it's always a good idea to handle your domain registration seperately from your hosting. That way you can change hosts at any time since you control the nameservers, and you don't risk having your domain name held hostage by your hosting company. |

| Thanks jackson. I wont get mad that my personal info is posted.. cause if someone wanted it.. they could get it easy enough you just made it.. super easy enough haha.
Go ahead and send that email to sholnay@aol.com.. see how fast you get a response =)
I'll contact dotregistrar - see what they have to say/offer. Hopefully I can get it solved without any hassle. -- ||I'll have the lobster thermador ecrovets with bernaise sauce served in the purple salm manor with chalots and overshies, garnashed with truffle pate, brandy, a fried egg on top and spam.|| quotegame |

| reply to Sholnay Your current host should offer to transfer the domain to you or at least allow you to transfer to another registrar.
Otherwise you should contact DotRegistrar, I know GoDaddy will help out users in this situation, no reason why they shouldnt.
Actually that's a risk for the host -- if you contact DotRegistrar and say you forgot your account login info you might just have access to all their domains. -- I'm joakimsen and I approve this message.»sveasoft.pifiu.com |

| reply to Sholnay And .biz and such. Problem is domain is in registrar lock, it has to be unlocked before anything can be done, unless the registar helps him out with it. -- I'm joakimsen and I approve this message.»sveasoft.pifiu.com |

| reply to joako I got an email from the company that has my domain, this is what it said:
Dear Client,
You can transfer you domain to any other registrar. Your new registrar will initiate a transfer from their side and you will receive an authorization mail on your domain's email account. If you authorize the transfer request, your domain will be transferred from us to your new registrar.
Regards, Anfyhost.com
okay, so what is my next step? Exactly what it says in the email? If so, which registrar do you recommend I switch to? Im new this aspect of hosting and would like to spend less than the current $13/year I pay.
Thanks! -- ||This aggression will not stand.|| quotegame || |
