1 edit | Re: OT: Sad day for heavy metal :( said by Morbid Angel  :btw, he is the ex-guitarist from Pantera. not so by the way, actually---seems that that may have been the motive for the shooting---the nut was a pantera fan angry that the abbotts left. and the fact that there was coverage of the lennon shooting anniversary had to contribute to him getting the idea. that he killed three other people unrelated to the decision to leave pantera also makes it that much more tragic.
and now, the inevitable debates about whether heavy metal encourages violence...instead of focusing on why some men don't feel they have alternatives to express their anger...

That is b.s., i heard none of that either, the guy was an ex-marine #1 and #2 he was a obsessed Pantera fan and was so upset the brothers left the band and started their own. One of the witnesses said that the shooter yelled " YOU RUINED MY LIFE!!!" at the band before going on the stage and shooting Darrell to death. He almost killed one other guy he had in a head lock, the guy got away giving the cop an opening to shoot Nathan (the killer) to death. If anyone thinks heavy metal provokes violence is someone that never listened to it before. Like I said, I have been to many many shows in my life all over and have never met anyone more crazy then I have seen at super markets. So if someone shot Sting to death because he left The Police, does that make the type of music he plays attract lunatics too? It is an unfortunate thing that happened. --
