said by OneHeart :Super long thread. Someone, please list out the FACTS in all this mess. I'm super confused now. 1. 2. 3. Etc. 1) Bottom line for many of us is that if you reset all the ZA settings to turn off everything but the firewall, do not allow ZA to autoupdate itself, or monitor your virus checker, or to contact ZoneLabs without asking for your permission, and deny the program permission to specifically identify your IP address when calling out.
2) you should be ok and ZA should be ok to use.
3) If you are not comfortable with the above you may want to use a different firewall, or,
4) Use logging software to monitor traffic to see that no unauthorized contacts occur.
Oh, I forgot, also set the ZA program permissions to XXXX.
That should do it unless anyone has other welcome suggestions. |
