Besides the SafeMode suggestion you might run a scandisc/error checking on the drive first...
In My Computer right click on the drive then choose the Tools tab and under Error-Checking click Check Now and check the boxes to automatically fix file system folders and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors then click start which will prompt you to reboot to run the scan...
