I still think 8 was the best. Thanks for providing that link to download it!!!! You're welcome! And isn't it kind of ironic that when you go to that oldversion page it still lists 8.2 as the "current" version of MusicMatch.......as though somebody's trying to tell us something......like maybe it ought to be????? |

| reply to gate1975mlm I updated musicmatch 9 to 10 because 9 would constantly run at over 90% processor time. I had to set it to below normal priority. It wouldn't play music correctly unless I set it lower. I installed a new version of 9 and it worked for a day. I installed 10 twice and it will close after displaying the splash screen and playing its opening theme, usually it is cut short. I do not have the paid version. Is there any other way to notify Musicmatch of this? I have WInXP Pro SP2 |

Related issue:
I have things set up so that Musicmatch 10 and its Portable Device Manager load automatically whenever I connect my iRiver 799 music player to the PC. Download some songs from MM to the iRiver, no problem.
However, when I try the "Safely Remove Hardware" operation to unplug the iRiver from the USB port, I get an error message that the device is still in use by another program. I have to go into Task Manager and stop mim.exe to disconnect properly.

1 edit | reply to howie I just found this thread and low and behold...I have a white dot also. I never noticed till I read this thread. I downloaded mmjb 10 when it first came out. My complaints with it is the dfx 7.0 ...sure makes things sounds great, but seems to take forever to minimize/maximize. Since I have installed I have also noticed a few charges on my bank account that we not purchases I made. As soon as I email them about them the charges are credited back but no response to my email as to why I was charged. Last night I tried downloading a couple songs and it told me that it couldn't verify the card with the address that the bank has on file...mind you I just downloaded a couple songs a day before with no problem and have always used the same card and have lived in the same place and used the same bank for about 14 years. What gives?? I really think this version is loaded with bugs!!
I am unable to display the page for the old versions of mmjb. Any other links to it? |

Make sure you get the entire address...
Love Musicmatch, and have used it since version 4. But version 10 just doesn't work. When I try to edit tags, I get a message that "File is invalid" and then the program crash. I wonder if MM have tried to implement some kind of experimental tag system that doesn't recognise some of my old tags... |

Very strange I was starting to get mim.exe shutdown errors occasionally and finally went back to version 9. I hope they remove this nasty little exe in future builds because it also prevents total access to all of your drives (cannot format in Windows for instance)... and then there's that dot... -- "I'm as sure as I can be without any, you know, proof!" - Adrian Monk |

I uninstalled Ver10 with great difficulty and installed Ver8. It's OK but I'd prefer Ver9 if it could be found. |

| I actually was able to find Ver 9 on a backup disk.
It's now installed. The same look & feel of Ver10 which I like, but hopefully none of the headaches.
I'm a MM Radio subscriber and 10 was the fist version that gave me any problems. Then I saw this string and realized other people were having problems too. When I tried to uninstall 10 it wouldn't uninstall. I got an error message.
Their tech support was superb as far as I'm concerned. When MM Radio stopped working they emailed me back an accurate fix within 12 hours. The same with an uninstall solution.
I like the program, the service and the support, just not version 10 |

| reply to funnyfingers After up?grading to 10, my cpu would peg at 90% for no good reason while I played music. Poking around, I noticed that if I "login" to online feature, the CPU would drop to almost nothing. OK, one bug nailed (I reported it).
I've got the mim.exe crash as well. But for me, it occurs just about ever time a new track begins to play!
Another ugly bug I reported: mmjb would get into a state where it would crash every time I tried to go to the online features. Evidently, cybersitter (which I have installed) was blocking access to an mmjb website. That's hardly a good reason for an applicaiton to crash! But at least I figured it out. Sadly, they couldn't when I sent them 2 different reports. |

join:2002-03-27 Baltimore, MD | I have nothing else running like cybersitter. I guess I will wait for an update for 10. I will use WIndows Media Player in the meantime. I really like Music Match but it is just starting to plain suck. |

| reply to howie I recently reinstalled my original purchased version MMJB which was a 7.x which I had saved as the original backup... and once I entered the registration and did the install... I ran the update and intitally got a newer 7.x than ran it again and got an 8.2 ran it again and got a 9.x and finally ran it one more time and finally got the 10.00.1025b... I haven't encountered any of the problems listed in this thread but it is on a pretty new high end Athlon system with 1.5g of ram and newer Radeon video and Audigy 2 sound cards with the updated DFX plugin.
My main gripe would be dropping support for IPods. -- Got a VAIO? Visit the Village:»www.vaiovillage.com |

| reply to howie I had the dot too. I killed the mim.exe process in the task manager and the dot went away. I thought it may be an edited icon shifted ass far off the screen as possible but I can't select it in any way. |

| Hi, Just found this thread after searching for details on mim.exe on Google.
It's taken me ages to find out what was giving me errors in my event logs every time I closed down. Removed mim.exe and no error. But, if I remove it from the start up list, MM still runs it and leaves it in the background which gives the error in event log.
Check your event logs for a yellow triangle with the following info... that'll be our little friend mm.exe
------------------------------
Event Type: Warning Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1517 Date: 18/01/2005 Time: 23:28:31 User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: Description: Windows saved user (name removed) registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.
This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account.

Now which version should I load? (I too am a registered MM radio user and a lifetime registered owner) |
