I guess what made me think that every computer had to be 'authenticated' was that last year I helped a friend in the military get his computer online. He was deployed for over 6 months. When we went to use the computer again, he had to reach that silly authentication page. Come to think of it though, he WAS connected to a router but we had to hook his computer directly to the modem because his router was fried.
What you say makes sense. Still appreciate any advice anyone is able to offer. |
