Re: AirLink 108mbps router

Just updated my Airlink to the Surecom EP-9610SX-gp(A1) 1.65 firmware with no problems.

Just one question --
The router still shows that it's an Airlink but is showing "Firmware Version: 1.6.5 , 2004/11/10". Seems strange. Maybe the Airlink graphics are hard coded into the router??

Update -- I just updated to the KCORP firmware with no problems. While I downloaded the KLG-575_v165 firmware my router is showing "Firmware Version: 1.6.6 , 2005/01/26". The file is listed as "[ ] KLG-575_v165.bin 11-Feb-2005 15:29 896k" on their website. My router is still showing the Airlink logo though...

Here's a direct link »kcorplifestyle.com/products/gold···KLG-575/

I just want to report, that I have another brand of router which is basically a DI-624 in disguise. It is a X-micro router, type XWL-11GRAG:

»x-micro.com/wlan-11g-brouter.htm

If you look in the manual, the web configuration is the same as for the airlink, apart from the logo.

It also comes with its own firmware, which is not very recent, but has not given me any problems at all. That is, Static or Dynamic Turbo give me problems (periods of no data traffic, connection is NOT lost), but this is very likely due to a an interfering router nearby.

I can also report that I successfully flashed the router with the latest few firmwares from DLink (via a firmware hack described elsewhere in this forum), but I reverted back to the original X-micro firmware, for no reason at all basically.

Which revision of the DI-624 does this seem compatible with?

I corrected a serious flaw of my Airlink router by flashing the firmware with KCorp's firmware. I run web and email servers behind this router (formerly a Linksys) and noticed that the Airlink made the web sites I host unreachable. The same was true for mail servers. I had given up on the Airlink and their tech support was no help. I put the Linksys back in production and the problem went away. It was clearly related to the Airlink.

The KCorp firmware solved this issue and raised a question. Since it appears XR technology was already in place on the Airlink why was it not available until a flash with KCorp firmware?

We saw this with 4x, Super G, and WPA as well.

It could be that the chipset vendors release a chipset with n functionality, then keep the line going and the price propped up by enabling these features on a piecemeal basis.

All seem based off same GlobalSunTech WLRT2454 QA0 product.

Looks like D-Link are the only ones to make their own F/W... Most other products not listed here well ... Different firmware format, ala Netgear.

Fired off an email to Global Sun Tech asking for the latest ref. F/W. We'll see if i get a reply.

Last week I downloaded the firmware for the Airlink and un-ARJ'ed it. The DWL-2100 was mentioned in the code.

The D-Link code pretty much mirrors the other GST stuff I've seen -- but that's not saying they don't apply their own tweaks to it.

I crash recovered + flashed my Airlink to the 1.65/1.66 fw from KCORP. Rebooted with SuperG + Dyn. Turbo enabled after 5min. Probably really pissy that there is a dlink router about 15ft away from it, even though that one isnt running superg.

This is line with Intel's 486 chip having the coprocessor clipped and today's P4 having HT disabled. They are both present just disabled and you have to pay a higher price per chip to have them turned on.

BTW - The KCorp firmware does seem to be 1.6.6.

If the super-g.com marketing is to be believed, it would be less pissy if the other AP was running Super G.

I've pulled the top off my airlink ap411w and all the #s are the same as the dwl-2100. The card's # is 8wapg02..4a1, all the chips appear the same, the only (visable) difference is the second antenna. I found this link »translate.google.com/translate?h···zilla:en -US:official_s%26sa%3DG
of someone that pulled apart a 2100. *EDIT* link looks funny, if it doesn't work do a google search for atheros ar2313a and click translate on the bottom one. *EDIT*

I also found this link
»dslrcs.clanspace.com/forum/remar···ode=flat
of some guys trying to update the firmware on thier conceptronics AP. One of the guys explains how to hack the d-link config tool to be used with his conceptronics. I followed his instructions and I could see my ap411w with the config tool, but would error out using it. Further down the thread sTEELER77 explains how to flash fail your AP making it come up in "failed" mode allowing it to be updated to a D-link firmware. Anyone think this will work?

@aol.com

Curious if anyone has found anymore information regarding
the dwl-2100 and using the firmware on the airlink ap411w?

Also has anyone or 'slo50h' been able to get the link
above working? I've tried 2 different isp's and both report a blocked ip.

Regards!
