1 edit | Unless you want a HUGE screen that is WAY more than you need to spend.
I got a 7" one from Officemax for $150 a month or so ago... even full price was $199. It will play anything you can through at it as well as full S and compsite video outs so you can use it as a home unit as well, even has a remote, and car adapter included.
It also has digital audio output.
Made by a company called INITIAL.

| Re: Portable DVD players From a few feet away my Initial does pretty well side to side, if you stuff it right in your face right in it, then it does fall off in bightness more than about 30 degrees of axis but picture qualities stay the same.
At a few feet though it is plenty good for two or three sitting together, to watch with out significant brightness fall off.

| Yea, I heard of Insignia. I went into my Best Buy store looking for something for my kids to keep em quiet and decided to get the 7". Looks like they call it the Insignia I-PD720 Portable DVD Player. At the time it was the only one they really had in stock and since I had a gift card from there I wasn't going to be too picky. Only problem is that the battery doesn't last as long as I need it to especially for those long drives. I called up Best Buy and it looks like they just started selling the batteries for these things. Once I get the battery and see how it lasts with the kids I'll let you know how happy I am. | |

Then no worry about batteries.
My Initial player for $150 even came with the car adapter.

| Purchased 5 of the 7" for $189.99 each for Christmas. Ended up returning all 5 of them. Sound was fine and picture was fine. However, the problems ranged from the machines saying NO DISK, LOADING--but never actually loading the movie, to suddenly quit playing the movie and going all the way back to the menu.
All problems were achieved without using the battery so that was not a cause. As a matter of fact other than for a few minutes of testing never had the chance to use the batteries.
Definitely would not recommend. | |
