| ADSL Modem with 060-5667-010 information required
Dear Sirs and Doctor Olds, its a great forum. I read a lot in this forum about different versions of efficient 5667, but I didnt find my part number listed. I have a part number 060-5667-010 with "Speedstream 5667 USA/Ethernet ADSL Modem" printed on the modem bottom. First, is this a bridge? second My ISP told me to set it to PPPOA, is this possible? I mean is the upgrade that this forum talks about exist yet. I tried to telnet to 192.168.1.1 with all the instructions in this forum,no success, same for 192.168.254.254. Thanks for your time |

The 010 appears to be a Bridge/Modem, not a Router/Modem from seeing the info on Google.
There is no web interface on the Bridge/Modem model.
There will be a Telnet Interface at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.254.254 depending on Firmware is installed.
You will have to set your PC Ethernet Card IP Address to the proper subnet to reach the Telnet interface. (First test set PC NIC to 192.168.1.2, subnet 255.0.0.0 and next test set PC NIC to 192.168.254.1, subnet 255.0.0.0) NIC = Ethernet Card
Anytime you have a modem that could be a router, you can tell real quick by hooking up to it and using the "ipconfig /release" and then "ipconfig /renew" commands (only works when the Ethernet Card is set to "Obtain IP Address Automatically") to see if you get an IP address assigned to your PC or an error than no DHCP server responds and a 169.x.x.x IP assigned meaning Windows can't find a DHCP server.
From my personal experience the numbers tell you what you have:
060-5667-0xx = Modems (rare exception - Frontier ISP in-house upgraded some units to Routers with special flash file)
060-5667-101 = Router/Bridge (South America issue only)
060-5667-501 = Router
060-5667-507 = Router

Norfolk, VA | Thanks very much for your reply. My ISP asks for 0/35 which I should have it supported according to this forum. But what about the PPPOA, Can I use this modem with PPPOA ISP? |

Dear Dr Olds, I extracted all flashfs files from my modem by the procedure you explained in this great forum, I am attaching some of it here. Is it possible to edit these files to make the modem works with PPPOA, like HAM7 did to work with certain VPI. I tried to change the pppoe text to pppoa in def_settings file and initppp file with no success. Thanks |

Not Possible if your 5667 is a Bridge. It must have SecureRoute Firmware installed. Configuration is performed in the Web Interface.
If your Telnet does not Match exactly then it is not capable of Routing at all.

Can we read the upgrade key from a router by the command upgradekey read and change the enable parameter from 0 to 1 in the upgrade package file SFWDL.ini, then type this upgrade key in to upgrade the bridge to a router? |

| No. It has been tried many times and it does not work. You can try if you want and I wish you all the success, but I don't think you will get anywhere as we have tried this for years now with no success.

I read in this form about Jaguedez obtained the zip file to trasnfer the bridged 5667 to router and he was negociating with you about it, what happened then, did you managed to get it?
one more question, if we transfer all the files from flashfs list on a router to my bridge via put and get commands with ftp server runnung, will this be enough to transform the bridge to router?
if not, what about trying to try add-device command to try to add the pppoa protocol to my bridge, thanks very much for your time. |

It is very clear in the links I posted above that the Upgrade Firmware found by Jaguedez ONLY works on 060-5667-101 Models available in South America and NOTHING ELSE. You do not seem to understand that for some reason.
If Firmware were available to convert a US Model 060-5667-001 and the 060-5667-010 then I would be the first to post about it. You can only upgrade the Bridge you have to newer Bridge Firmware, but it will never handle PPPoA as a Bridge.
