Anti-Trojan question

Having trouble picking a AT. so i thought i'd go by who has the most in their database then came to a question which is better, Unique trojans with very little variants or less Unique and more variants
the main 5 i was looking at was
TDS3 44175 trojan references
A2 52959 signatures
The Cleaner - Unkwonw
Trojan Remover 12527 individual trojan/worm signatures
BOCLEAN 23,121 (unique 4759)

all numbers taken off their prospective websites
any input is welcomed

The number of signatures doesn't matter at all. If you are looking for an AT that runs smoothly on YOUR computer, you should have a look at the following poll: »What Anti-Trojan program do you use?

NOBODY ever went wrong in buying BOClean.

For your information, I have yet to see a HJT log posted by ANYONE in this forum that had BOClean installed.

In my experiences, TDS-3 has the broadest anti-trojan coverage in breadth and depth. However, I only use it on-demand because its resident component (Execution Protection) conflicts with other resident programs on my system.

For resident protection I have found Ewido and BOClean about equivalent and you might just want to free trial Ewido. BOClean has a return policy.

Actually, I have found, that the best overall protection for both viruses _and_ trojans is Kaspersky AV. Seems to catch everything. Those guys most never go to sleep with the way they keep their signature database updated. However, TDS-3, has in the past (before I installed KAV 4.5) detected trojans that others have missed. They have a very comprehensive detection algorithm.

You may want to research the Flux trojan on this forum and www.wilderssecurity.com. There has been some discussion concerning how well ATs detect and remove this trojan. Frankly, with all of the cross-analysis, I cannot tell you which AT does the best job with this nasty malware ... and I have read all of the posts. Maybe someone else can chime in with their analysis of Flux. a2 has a special free program for detecting and removing Flux.

Also, for deep, low-level protection against dll injection (a favorite tactic of trojans), rootkits, and keyloggers, I would highly recommend that you look at ProcessGuard 3.0. It is not an AT per se, but PG 3.0 together with KAV 4.5 may provide the best overall AV, AT, AS protection available today. This has been my experience and others on Wilders who I have traded messages with have similar opinions.

For goodness sake why? Why research a poorly written trojan?
