SpyBot 1.3 - Browser pages question

Spybot is blocking the download of www.excite.com/my.jsp

This is the normal home page I use. How do I make SpyBot allow this page?

You can't get there at all? Are you clicking OK with each prompt? (just tried it)

It doesn't block the site as much as block things that site is trying to download (btw, that should tell you something about Excite, the fact that SpyBot S&D blocks a half dozen downloads).

Immunize Section > Download Blocker Aread > set "Block all pages silently.

OR just disable it in the same place. Mind you, the protection will be turned off.

Have you looked into using Spywareblaster (free, from »www.javacoolsoftware.com ) to compliment Spybot's immunize feature?

Or use Firefox.

Edit: URL

Do you have a Hosts file that includes any excite.com entries? If so, you might try disabling those entries temporarily and see if that allows your homepage to download properly.

I agree with Atangel - a site which needs to be blocked by Spybot S&D, and which has related servers listed in a popular Hosts file, does not seem to be a particularly good choice for a homepage, IMHO ...

I can get there by unchecking "Enable permanent blocking"

How can remove Excite from the list and still have blocking enabled?

Excite is not in my Hosts file.

Not sure you can. It isn't blocking Excite (OK, it isn't supposed to be blocking), it issupposed to be blocking what Excite is trying to download. Did you try the block silent option first?

Now as to why it is blocking the whole page ????????? Perhaps someone else here can answer.

Just for reference, What else is installed on your system? IE-SPYAD? etc? OS, browser version, etc.

If your using Spybot's Immunize function....it adds Excite to IE's per site cookie handling function....CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History\excite.com. I would suggest you go into IE's Tools\Internet Options\Privacy tab\....down at the bottom in the Web Sites area select Edit button. You can then either remove or select Allow for Excite's cookie.
