No offense, timcuth, but I'd advise against any Melitta. We got one a little over a year ago. It wasn't the $25 model, as it has a grinder, etc on it. All the mechanical items still work fine, but the lid on the grinder side...plastic with a snap top to keep it closed during the grinding process...has broken. Since it happened 4 months ago, we have continued to try to get a replacement. Every few weeks, Melitta, a division of Salton, sends us a postcard saying the part will be shipped in about 10 days. Backordered or not, their CS isn't very good. The thing still makes great coffee, but using tape to hold the lid closed is a nuisance.
OTOH, we've had good results with other brands, especially Braun. |

| Well, when I bought mine, I reasoned that if it broke, it was so cheap that I would just buy another one or something else. In fact, I only bought it as a stop-gap until I decided what I really wanted. But, it never broke and it makes very good coffee, so I am still using it.
For me, it was just a bonus that it turned out to be so good.
