Re: Free Microsoft AntiSpyware beta

I have tested it on quite a few computers and love it. Works well and has a clean and easy to use interface.

Now that microsoft has taken an official stand against spyware, these companies will have a harder time defending their legitimacy and claims that they are not spyware.

(Similar to the introduction of popup blocking in XP SP2 IE has made a stand that popup windows are not considered the best advertising method for serious companies. (Analogy: I don't mind billboards along the highway, but I would object if they each would be crashing down in front of my car and I would need to get out of the car and push a button to raise each out of the way again.))

For an OS vendor, it seems important to protect the user experience. This has been severely impacted by spyware.

Infoworld has an interesting discussion how MS antispy protects itself from being sued by companies such as Claria/Gator.
