[DIRECTV] Experiencing problems with DirecTV?

I have DirecTV service. I have the phase 3 dish and have 4 rooms hooked up 3 with the D10 receivers and 1 room with a Tivo/DVR unit. On Friday my Tivo unit stopped working it said "Please call customer service ext. 711"

So I called and they said my card was no good? WTF? They sent me a new card I just got it today I tried to activate it and it switched me over to tech support before activating it. Guy on tech support said something is wrong with "the satellites" whatever that means, and he can't activate any cards starting with 0009 or 0008. He credited my account $100 for the inconvenience and said it should start working within 48 hours, and they will call me in 2 days to verify.

I don't get it.. something is fishy here to me. I can view the sample channels 100/400 just fine. It downloads the setup from the satellite if you reset the unit. All my normal D10 receivers are working fine and I can view all channels.

I could even understand if I were trying to activate a new card and their system wasn't functioning.. But the fact is I wasn't trying to do that. It stopped working on its own, I had a functioning unit/card.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone ever had a problem like this? It's pretty dang annoying.. I just don't believe their excuses. Makes me wonder if they know I installed a 300gig hard drive and have a functioning DVD burner .. I don't see how they could possibly tell, I wish I could tell exactly what info is sent back on "call backs" to their system from my unit on a daily basis.

Re: [DIRECTV] Anyone else experiencing problems with DirecTV?

maybe they sent your unit a new Flash/firmware upgrade?

Lets hope that all the 'sat' problems are due to them adding more channels!!!

Oh... and no problems here... I have two Samsung recievers... one is HD the other is not - neither have DVR's.

Re: [DIRECTV] Experiencing problems with DirecTV?

DirecTV's activation system has been either completely down or very slow over the last few days. Since Thursday, every install I've been on, I've had to leave customers with unactivated receivers. Pissed the hell out of me, because I would be stuck on a job site for an extra 30 minutes to an hour waiting for the customer rep to unsuccessfully attempt several times to activate, when they knew damn well the system was down.

Since this afternoon, their system seemed to be working, albeit very buggy still. My last job today, I was onsite for an extra 90 (NINETY!!!) minutes, because they couldn't get the customer's programming package applied to the account and sent down to the receivers. Thankfully the customer was understanding of my visible frustration.

For the sake of us installers, hopefully they'll get everything working 100% very soon.
