[DIRECTV] UHF remote control a receiver in another room?

I currently have 4 rooms setup with their own receivers on my DirecTV setup. I have a very very big home and would like to be able to watch TV in the kitchen for that 45 or so minutes I spend in it a day. I'd rather not buy another receiver for such a short period a day that I'd watch it.

So here's what I did, I installed a splitter and ran some catv coax from a receiver in another room to my small 20" TV in my kitchen. I have good picture there now and can watch whatever channel my receiver is on. Well I've become extremely lazy and am tired of walking to he adjacent room to flip the channel.

So finally my question is it possible to change the channel from my kitchen? A universal UHF remote that would work with a standard DirecTV RCA receiver? Or even a wired remote of some sort?

Hopefully that made some sense, thanks for any help!

Remote extenders work by having a IRDa "mouse" which is attached to the front of the unit you wish to control, and then the unit sits with an antenna on top to allow you to communicate via Remote control.

RadioShack has a unit for around $42.00: »www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c···5%2D1950

There are other company's out there: »search.yahoo.com/search?fr=slv1-···+control

Re: [DIRECTV] UHF remote control a receiver in ano

There are quite a few different options out there. Here is a section over at Smart Home about wireless IR signals. I've used the Powermids before and had very good result.

You might also consider just a aftermarket UHF remote control. Radio Shack had this remote w/ a UHF extender for $15 clearance before the holidays. You might check your local Shack to see if they have any. They had been on clearance for some time.
