Sounds coming through speakers?

I have a friend over the past few days has been hearing sounds such as smooching, merry christmas, high beeps. She has norton anti virus and TH installed. Weve done online scans at Panda also. At first i thought it may be a cb radio or something. But she lives way away from any highways. I'm gonna have her download Active Ports so i will post back with that later. But if anyone has experienced this or has any info please let us know.

Thanks

Maybe somebody loaded up one of those computer pranks on her system. Do a search for those wave files or take a look at the processes running to see if there is anything out of the ordinary.

Around Christmas Time there was a sreensaver/event sound package that was flooting around you could download and install.

Some were even installed when Christmas CD games or Music were used on the PC

I/m pretty sure it's yahoo IM service doing it. The sounds are related to there new program.

my computer's been recently making really weird noises too. But now i've discovered that it's actually because of a really cheap and badly mad fluorescent lamp next to it which seems to make this electromagnetic interference stuff that makes this sort of high pitched noise whenever it was switched off. and I'm pretty sure i screwed up my wiring in my computer somewhere too, which is making a really weird screech noise whenever I scroll or use any sort of graphics-intensive stuff.

You could try unplugging everythign you don't need from the computer and getting rid of all appliances near your computer. If it still does it you might as well show it off to your friends as a magic trick or something and play around with your ghost computer by making it go crazy playing the sounds!

Uninstall Yahoo Messenger. If the sounds go away, you have your culprit. When you reinstall Yahoo Messenger, do a custom install and select ONLY Messenger. Do NOT select all the funny goodies that go with it. It's all garbage. Even if Yahoo isn't your culprit, you're still better off having ONLY Messenger and not all the frilly crap added on. Good luck.

Thanks will try this. I think they force this stuff on you. She was having a problem with flash. The new yahoo service uses flash .. and when she would use window washer she would always have to reinstall flash for yahoo to work. At least with the audible files they force on you.
