[Connectivity] Im having problems

I just got my cable service from comcast but I cant get a connection. Im using the terayon modem they provided but it cant get a signal from the cable. I called CC tech support but they werent much help. What should I try. I dont really want to have to call them to my house to get it fixed but I will if I have to

Hello daveangell20 and welcome to the BBR Comcast HSI forum.

How are you posting now, if you can't receive a signal?

Can you provide more information about your connection, overall? When you try to connect your cable modem to your PC, what are stats of the cable modem lights in front?

- Are you behind a router? If so, what type?

Im using my dial up account to post this. On my modem the power,PC,and Data lights are on and the cable light is flashing. I dont know much about HSI so if there is anything specific you need to know to try to help me please ask.

Did they register your modem?

That's a good question, SuperNet33 See Profile.

daveangell20 See Profile - you need to register your cable modem. This FAQ here should instruct you on how to do so.

Your region is here: »https://sas.r4.attbi.com

I cant even open that site. It just tells me to call comcast. I called them and they said my modem is already registered

OK - your region must've recently switched over to the new provisioning systems, for cable modems. For a more "detailed" summary about the new system, check this FAQ.

As for your signal levels - your upstream channel is out of range (Please, refer here for acceptable signal levels). How many splitters is your cable modem behind?

My cable modem is behind 1 splitter. I dont know how many times Ive talked to comcast, they cant seem to figure it out. I have a technician coming to the house tomorrow so maybe he can figure it out

OK - let's try doing some troubleshooting here. Remove the splitter your cable modem is behind, and connect the cable modem to the drop line. Now, check your signals afterwards at: »192.168.100.1 - copy and paste them here.

Just making a comment for kicks.... My cable modem from Comcast has an internet button on it that if you don't press to turn it on, it blocks all traffic but shows connection to comcast. May want to check to see if you have one of those buttons.

Your signals look fine ... for now. Though, your transmit power (Tx Power) is at the DOCSIS borderline. Is the modem able to sync, yet, or still out of luck?

The comcast tech came out today. He got it all figured out. There was a filter on the line outside of the house. Im online with comcast now. Thanks for the help
