| [wireless] What would prevent a WPA connection?
I have a WRT54G and WAP54G at work. I use WPA and MAC Filtering on both. About 20 people have had no problems connecting to them; although only 1 or 2 are active at any one time. Today I tried to connect two more (1 W2k and 1 XPSP2). Both failed to connect to either wireless device, although the signal was very strong. It appears that it either can't authenticate or can't obtain an IP address.
I use a 64 char Hex key and I did verify it was correct. I also double checked the MAC addresses. I rebooted everything at least once or twice.
Now the strange part: I switched one of the wireless systems to WEP and the laptop connected immediately. I think the laptops may have some issues, but I don't know what. Most all the laptops are HP, with built in wireless. We tried updating the drivers with no luck. I know some of the other HP laptops are the same vintage, yet they work ok. The owner of one of the stubborn laptops says he sees the same behaviour at home...he has to use WEP instead of WPA.
Is this a known issue?....or a common problem? Any ideas? |
