Re: [Speeds] Help my Upload is faster than my Download

Have you tested things with real world downloads and uploads? Are you experiencing slow surfing? What operating system and modem are you using? Could you try these test and post the results? »/tweaks »/linequality

Also if your modem supports it. »192.168.100.1/signal.html Please post the signal levels here. Are you seeing this all times of day? Did this just start happening?

My post here »Cable stops uploading, suggestions? may be of some help as well.

This is low for me. »/speedtests/41···07399873 But within reason for this time of night I guess.

My tweak test results. »ttester.broadbandreports.com/twe···a=normal

Pings are up tonight for me and my transfer efficiency is still showing at 97% ( same as the other day ). Which is odd - I normally get 100% all the time - no matter what time of day.

This may be something specific to your area. Or specific to your setup. That can't be determined until some of the steps above are taken.

My line quality results.

Before you balme insight you should make sure it is not on your end. Are you behind a router? Try rebooting it or even removing it to make sure it is not hte issue, it does happen. ( if you remove router I supggest making sure you also have a software firewall to protect you) There are manythings that can affect speedtest, and being in the midwest when all the dslreports main test servers ar on the coasts you may see issues. Try something closer. www.chi.speakeasy.net for one.

Re: [Speeds] Help my Upload is faster than my Download

They just added a router last night 2/3/05. Might help you guys out!

I was very surprised with the service I got with insight through the last month or so of slow speeds. After my initial 2 week wait for someone to reply to my email I got really personalized service from one of the techs there. I haven't had a chance to test out my connection yet as I'm at work right now, but if the new router doesn't fix the problem I'm going to have a technician out friday to see if its something on my end.

Post back if you see an increase in speed, the guy helping me said he's already had reports of an increase.

Peace

Any speed issues being experienced shouldn't be related to those we in Lexington were having several weeks ago. One of the representatives from Insight contacted me several times until that issue was finally resolved (for me, at least) on 1/28. If they've since added another router, I'd hope that your connection's back up to par so that you don't have to go to the trouble of getting a technician out.

I also live in zip code 40503 and have tested the same pathetic download speeds (less than upload). I haven't checked it in awhile, so I will do that now. Those tests seem to be lying because I have been getting around 450Kbps downloads from usenetserver, even though I was testing real slow for download on the speed tests here.

Still reporting crappy in 40503 for me

Yet still dang fast downloading off usenetserver. I'll try the other tests and see if they report better.

A little better, but I'd like to at least see 3600kbps down.

If you ask me the connection performance went down and down as the housing development close to Meijer sprang up over there. Too many on the node! It was fantastic in our zip when it was @HOME, but there were also empty fields along a skinny Reynolds Rd. The area just keeps adding houses and it just feels like they are all Insight broadband customers.

Try the test server at »chi.speakeasy.net. It seems to give me the most accurate results.

Yes, that's closer to the speed I envision I should be receiving.

that is something we should all consider with Inisght, the main dslreports speed tests are on the east and west cost, many things can alter those results. That is why I use the chi.speakeasy site and also a local to Bloomington, In speed test »www.bluemarble.net/technical_sup···ex.shtml

to test my speeds, I feel they are moe acurate, though I think the Bluemarble site may not have the bandwidth to really test my 4mbps down.

I say that bluemarble may not have the bandwidth to really test our cable connections becuase it is a smaller isp. Before recently switching to insight I had DSL service from them, outstanding service, but way to expensive. The highest download they offer is 1.5, and I question that there backbone can really support the test for a 4 mbps download.
