| [DC++] New release sets me to passive
since upgrading to x70, i get a popup before the program loads : "Failed to create port mappings. please set up your NAT yourself."
i had this problem in the prior release but solved it when i turned on active connection. now, after clicking OK, i can load hubs fine but im set to passive, even though i dont notice any differences than before.
also, i seem to have been perma banned from a hub i'd been active in for 6 months without a single problem or warning. could it be related? -- Somnambulator - t3h 5133pw41k3r HomeLAN FED |

| The "Failed to create port mappings." is because UPnP is failing. If you want to use that instead of manual port forwarding read »DC++ FAQ / Direct Connect FAQ »How to set up UPnP?
Being perm banned from a hub because you're using 0.670, is simply owners/ops being an ignoranus. The rumor that's floating around about 0.670 being spyware, DCMA tracking, etc is a utter load of BS. Any hub that you get kicked/banned for using 0.670 under that reason, don't ever bother to visit again. -- If it's not on Google, then it doesn't exist.

| reply to Somnambul33t well, last night i loaded DC++ up to immidiately find it starting to downloading almost every DL que i'd had. overnight i grabbed some 50 files, with 13 going right now. this is by far the most ive downloaded with DC++ since grabbing it at a LAN and using it as our "file server" for game files. its still in passive mode (i did not change it like ive been doing with 670, whether or not that actually has an effect on my connection) and im still uploading.
normally my uploads far outweigh my DLs. upon loading DC++ my upstream is almost instantly maxed out, and before last night i couldnt remember ever DLing faster than 100 k/s (maxxed UL cripples your whole connection).
i dont know what the deal was or is currently but im actually grabbing more than 1 file at a time. 70-150 k/s down and 30-40 up. maybe i wasnt meant to run in active mode. or maybe this is just a freak occurance. either way, im not exiting until everything is safe on my HDD -- Somnambulator - t3h 5133pw41k3r HomeLAN FED |
