 | reply to Logwind - nice Sunday afternoon drive - dropped those 911's like a bad habit - i wish the video show some telemetry - how the hell do you memorize that track - can i get me one of those - us americans are too impatient for a long track racing - excellent vid! |
|
 | reply to Logwind ... is it me, or was he passing those 911's just a little too easily?? Is BMW the latest entrant in the Viral Marketing game???
Nice post regardless/ (bmw fan!) |

I had never seen a video around "The Ring". I had no idea it went through the hills like that. |

Plexxxy join:2003-02-02 West Palm Beach, FL | reply to Logwind Anyone remember that vid from awhile back with a RUF Yellowbird running round the 'Ring? ...well, it was more like drifting round, but still very cool
I know have it around somewhere, have to dig it up. |

1 edit | reply to VacantLot said by VacantLot:- how the hell do you memorize that track I don't think most drivers have it memorized by heart. I doubt any driver can imagine every single corner in their head in the correct order like they do for normal road courses. This is also why hundreds of driver died at the track.
But a few people do memorize it, for example the ring "taxi" driver Sabine Schmitz knows it by heart since she has been racing there since she was a teenager.
EDIT: oh Late4dinner, the reason why he passes all the Porsches so easily is because he probably drives a different class car (like most endurance racing series). Also, he is in the BMW with factory support, so he should get better cars, whereas a lot of Porsches are private teams with little money and support. |

 | reply to Logwind That was the best quality video of that track I have ever seen online. Hans has been driving that circuit for something like 40 years. Looks like he's finally got all 136 Turns mastered.
We need NASCAR. Without it we wouldn't have Motorsports for the Intellectually Challenged. It's in the same genre of entertainment as Jerry Springer, Judge Judy, WWF..... Oh yeah and it sells a boatload of beer and cigarettes.
Here's a link (unfortunately of lower quality) to an even faster lap around that track:

A friend of mine rode in her taxi once and she was chatting with him and not even looking on the road as she was going around a curve and drifting like crazy. I would love to do that once or get a place in that formula one racing car that seats two. |
