Firefox and Proxomitron blocked it all with these settings :-)

<start> 929: Kill pop-up windows
<start> 929: Suppress all JavaScript errors
<start> 929: Stop browser window resizing
<start> 929: Stop status bar scrollers
<start> 929: Kill Dynamic HTML JavaScripts
<start> 929: Stop JavaScript Timers
Match 929: Disable JavaScript (and meta) cookies
Match 929: Allow right mouse click
Match 929: Hide Browser's Identity from JS
<end> 929: Restore pop-ups after a page loads

It end's up at a Zedo.com new window using a Dynamic Java Script made for Firefox. See the "ff2.html?" in the last line? Read about the bastards at »zedo.com

After disabling ad blocking in Outpost firewall, I was finally able to get a popup on these sites. I sometimes forget that Outpost is working for me.

Considering that Outpost is blocking these by ad string, it should be easy to block these using adblock as well.
