In the next generation of wireless protocols, here is what I'd like to see:
1. When several wireless networks are colocated, automatically increase the beacon interval.
2. When error rate is near zero, reduce the power until the error rate begins to creep up again.
3. On an idle network, throttle back from maximum datarate, so we can reduce the power some more and still keep the quality high.
4. Have an open CTS and a hidden node CTS. If a node detects itself as hidden, then the AP will be sure to pause other traffic using the Open CTS to service the hidden node's hidden CTS, then unleash the masses until the next cycle comes around. -- Robb Topolski http://www.funchords.com/ Hillsboro, Oregon USA |
