 | Flogator, BEFSX41 1.52.3 firmware, tried it yet? Afraid to rush past the old stable firmware and jump into the 1.5X range. Linksys sent me a beta the other day, 1.52.3.001 |

Indeed, I have received a copy of this firmware few weeks ago. I have not posted that firmware on the forum yet because, as usual, some nasty bugs were introduced. Though I must admit I was pleased with some of the bug fixes that went in.
Due to the new bugs that were introduced, I have strongly advised Linksys to come up with a new version of the firmware before releasing it to the public. You may now see I have very little influence on the big Linksys machine. I wanted to wait for the next firmware before posting it but I presume since Linksys has started to distribute this firmware, it should be made available to everyone. If no one has posted the firmware by tomorrow morning, I will update my web site accordingly. However, it must be noted that 1.52.3 is beta material that do contains many bugs and as such must be flashed AT YOUR OWN RISK. |
|
 | If possible can you please post a changelog?
Thanks |

 | reply to YeOldeStonecat »www.speedguide.net/~brian/linky153.zip For those who wish to try it.
Contains .bin file only.
Flog, what issues did you find with it? My biggest issues with any prior 1.5X versions, were: 1) Web browsing seemed limited as to what sites you could go to, DNS related. Many sites simply timed out. 2) Enabling MTU to any automatic or manual setting...the connection simply refused traffic, although status showed as still connected.
Those 2x right there were the biggest show stoppers for me. |

|
 | I have tried 1.52.3, 1.51.00, 1.50.18 and now 1.45.7. for my particular setup, 1.45.7 works better... |

1 edit | reply to Toonces311 I used this on SBC DSL (PPPOE)in Chicagland.
Within 2 days I encountered a DNS issue (could Ping IP of DLSR but not www.dslreports.com) Had an IP, but could't DNS. Fixed by power cycle. It occurred the next day... That's when I went back. Once back at V1.45.7 all was OK.
Other things noticed. Logging was absolutely horrendous, either locally, or with Latest Wallwatcher. Would not log incoming probes after about 2 minutes. Outgoing locations sometimes stopped being logged after time server access. Speaking of time server access, Logs reported multiple time servers being accessed (that I hear aren't really occurring ???) when a user specified time server was entered. Logs were also full of nonsense posts to Port 0, and random resets that LED's didn't confirm.. Using blocking by keyword would reset BEFSX41 before it could be verified if it worked or not, let alone logged. (I had been warned that timestamps were inoperative) So I didn't try it. During the setup screens the "WHITE PAGES" involving reload or back/fwd were more numerous than V1.45.7 but far less numerous than any 1.5x. that preceeded V1.52.3.
The random Resets I see on Java based speedtests were not evident on this version, (But I encounter on V1.45.7).
Speedtests, were identical to V1.45.7. ftp transferrs seemed identical to V1.45.7, too.
I went back to V1.45.7 after encountering DNS issues for the 2nd time, that occurred simultaneously with SBC Problem in Chicagoland. Couldn't determine if problem was SBC or BEFSX41 firmware version without changing one of the variables... I went back to V1.45.7 and everything returned to normal (And I never was affected by the problems that SBC had in Chicagoland that weekend, I may add).
Hope this gives you the input you wanted.... Jan -- Looking for 1939 Indian Motocycle |

Re: Flogator, BEFSX41 1.52.3 firmware, tried it yet? Oh my goodness!!!
I sent support a question regarding V1.52.3, asking when the next version would be coming out.... and look at the answer I got!!!
"There is no known date yet. Firmware 1.52.3 is still under testing once it is out in our website, these issues should be resolved.
I'll be glad if this help. Thank you.

 | reply to YeOldeStonecat Any chance someone would post a better link for getting 1.52.3? 1.52.0 is the best I have used so far, but am hoping for yet another improvement in QoS handling. |

Re: Flogator, BEFSX41 1.52.3 firmware, tried it ye Sorry I did a typo last week posting the link, host server is Linux hence that pesky case sensitivity.
So...
Sorry about the lower case "l" in the prior link. |

Re: Flogator, BEFSX41 1.52.3 firmware, tried it yet? I gave this one a whirl, it would not let me connect out after the upgrade. Obtained IP, Gateway, DNS but no connection past router. No ping of ISP gateway. Connected to SB4200 Did a hard reset, factory defaults, etc.. Not a whole lot of time to test this one as I need my connection up and running. Noticed a new page, HideSystemMenu.htm Current MTU status is now part of the status page. New DDNS entry PeanutHull? BackupnRestore.htm is still there. Maybe give this a second chance this weekend when I have more time to try and get to work with modem.
