Bear in mind that a fax machine is an analog device - it works by sending sounds over an ordinary voice telephone line. Your DSL connection is digital, but you can still plug an ordinary analog device (whether a phone or a fax) into the same line as your DSL connection, and, as long as there's a splitter there, the analog and digital services shouldn't interfere with each other.
So first of all make sure you can make an ordinary voice call over your DSL line, by installing the appropriate filters, and plugging in a handset. Once you're done that, you should be able to plug the fax device in instead of the handset, and off you go. Your Fax device doesn't know or care about the internet, whether you're using dialup or DSL. |
