The Company that makes the i-Guide is a joint venture between TV Guide/Gemstar and Comcast. The company is called GuideWorks »www.guideworkstv.com/

Be my guest and call them and see what they tell you. Post it back here.

I know in my area Comcast is being cautious due to the plethora of bugs the i-Guide has. Even though the i-Guide has bugs, it is a beautiful piece of software. Not Tivo beautiful, but darn close.

I'm lucky to have it on my 6412 and want it on the other STB's too. But we all have to be patient so they can give us the best possible product.

I fear they may wait for version 2 before we get it. There is currently a new Firmware test that I think has concluded and we will see 9.15 on the 6412. They are also testing various versions of the i-Guide and will settle on one to deploy, hopefully by Q2 (April - June).

Bottom line is this. We all hate the tan guide and Comcast is fully aware. But, it works and when people want to order VOD or PPV or upgrade their tier, again it works.

The 6412 is Comcast's answer to Tivo. All efforts are on the 6412 and making it work. Once they have a relatively bug free code (i-Guide), they will deploy it.

Secondly, Digital Simulcasting is at the forefront. This too will delay the i-Guide deployment as well.

All I can say is... Be patient. Comcast is fully aware we all want the new i-Guide.

I'm not even getting the I-guide, but it seems like there are a lot of bugs to be worked out on the software.

Does anyone know what features version 2 will have and when. Also, will there be a 30 second commercial skip on the dct-6412 with any of the firm ware updates or a remote that would work for that and pip?

Here is the procedure to program a 30 second skip to the remote that ComCast provides with the 6412.

1) Press the "Cable" button at the top of the remote to put it into Cable Box control mode.
2) Press and hold the "Setup" button until the "Cable" button blinks twice.
3) Type in the code 994. The "Cable" button will blink twice
4) Press (do not hold) the "Setup" button
5) Type in the code 00173 (for 30 second Skip).
6) Press whatever button you want to map the skip function to.

I use the "Live" button for my 30-second skip. Some people use the "Help" button or the "HD Zoom" button.

Here is a link to all the codes.

Version 2 details will surface soon. 30 Second Skip already works with the i-Guide. Look here: »www.dvrchatter.com./viewtopic.php?id=10

The Firmware addresses interactivity between the Guide, the 6412, and the video/audio displayed.

PIP will never work in the 6412. The 6412's hardware cannot show two simultaneous videos.

I still cannot beleive that some people are not getting the new guide till early next year. It makes me really mad. LOL Oh well, looks like Comcast hasn't lived up to there word again!

Seriously people, do you actually think it takes three years to develop a stupid guide. It only takes 4 years to develop a new gaming platform which is 15 times as hard!

I tried the 30 second skip and it doesn't work. I only get the status bar when pressing the key to skip. I have the ondemand remote. Is do have another universal remote for pc and other things called an x10 remote but haven't programmed it or used it yet, could that work?
