| reply to legalbegal I just saw the same thing on my bank statement. charged today 2-22 but when we called they said the purchase was made on 2-18. They knew my name but the address they said the DVD was sent to was in another state! I reported my Visa compromised and requested new ones. I was wondering if you ever shop on auctions? I bought an Ipod from someone before Christmas, sent the credit card number directly to the company only to find out later it was not a real company. |

| reply to legalbegal I just found a charge on my debit card from Pluto D Nicosia. I called the 888-323-8955 number that was referenced and was told I bought a dvd from DRG Records for $19.99 on 2-20-05. This is crazy. Did any of you recently sign up for any trail offers with Emusic.com or any other mp3 websites? I am thinking that may be how they got my info. |

| reply to legalbegal Hey, I also had $29.99 charged on 2/18, and the name was uncovered on the 22nd as the same "Pluto D Nicosia." I called the 1-888 number and Pluto said that they were some sort of clearinghouse and that I had purchased a music CD from "Fast Tracks," what the heck?? Do you think I should close my card and get a new one like most people on this forum, since I havent gotten additional weird charges like this one, yet, on my account |

| Call the number back and ask them if they are Answer Quick and are based in Baton Rouge. Ask them if they have a contact number for PLUTO DATA.
The assumption is that the people answering the phones HAVE information for PLUTO DATA, but are not releasing it. YOu should follow the instructions in the beginning of this thread and report this to the Baton Rouge Ploice Department. |

4 edits | reply to legalbegal I was a victim of fraud by this company also. I have traced domain names and done reverse address and phone number listings.
Answerquick gave me a address in Redondo Beach, Ca. and a phone number of the person who supposedly placed the order. The address is not found and the phone number traces back to Mod edit: removed
Cleorecs (cleopatra records DVD) claims that they never had any order and that their name is only being used. Further conversation pending e-mail. I can't confirm them not receiving any money because I don't have access to their bank account. They should be the ones perusing this the most because their name is being put out there.
Jerry Long and Answerquick should release information on Pluto D Nicosia but have claimed that the credit card company or Fraud investigators should contact them to get this information.
I want this purchase off my record, not just a refund. This activity was not mine and may lead back to bad material that could hurt me. I in no way want to be connected to Pluto D Nicosia. I cannot find one positive transaction made by this name. He could be a terrorist for all I know.
If it makes a difference to anyone, I just my changed my browser to Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. I made one transaction to Handystands (motorcycle lift) with Firefox, but many purchases made online with IE. I made one other purchase at a market in SF recently with my card, that's it. I keep my computer updated with spyware software and new spyware search methods and had found one trouble cookie that was tough to remove. I have been on sites before (accidentally) that may have had bad content but have never ordered anything.
And away we go!

| reply to legalbegal I just did a search for this Pluto place and found this thread. I am SO glad to see I was not the only one! Last week I had a charge of $29.99 on my CC for some DVD which I did not purchase. Thankfully they reversed the charges, I deactived my card, and was never charged for this. I am very curious what's going on, it seems there are others out there with the same problem. Does anyone have anymore info on this?
Also, when you called that Pluto place, did you have to give your first and last name? I had to in order to check the charges but now am wondering if that was such a good idea? It was the only way to get the charges reversed.
I really want to know what site I may have visited or who hacked into my comptuer to get these numbers. |

| reply to legalbegal It happened to me too. I had a charge of 29.99 clear thru my bank on 16 Feb for a CD I didnt buy. And a 19.99 charge on the 18th from a different account for another cd I didnt buy. I had to cancel both sets of debit cards and of course Pluto Data will refund my money. We shall see.
Does anyone know in the world this could have happened? |

I didnt even think to ask them what address it was being sent to. And when I called today, of course they couldnt give me any info because its wiped from there system?
What company doesnt keep track of things like this for prosecution? |

| reply to legalbegal I think the most likely scenario is that one or more online cc database was hacked and stolen, and the thief(s) are going on a spending spree. I'm trying to still figure out if there is a common thread beyond Pluto Data...what online sites were visited by people who are having this problem?
The only one I have heard at this point is the very short-lived auction site wagglepop.com. The support forums for this site »www.freeauctionscripts.com/commu···-29.html have some interesting reading (the site was just launched a short while ago, and now it is down), which I haven't had time to get too far with. -- Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored - Aldous Huxley |

| reply to legalbegal SimplyChic, I thought my daughter used my card too!
I have never heard of waggle or whatever it is. I haven't used my card online for awhile now, but a few of the places I have used it was Amazon.com , Nextel.com , and MAC online. I have purchased things at other places, but those are the most recent. I suppose if someone did hack, these #'s could have been on the system for quite some time. It would probably be hard to pinpoint the exact place.
Does anyone suspect this scam is related to the Choice Point scam that was just on the news? |

| reply to legalbegal Well I did sign up to wagglepop and they did have security issues with the card being displayed in your account info. Instead of the number being encrypted but the last 4. But it still doesnt answer how they got ahold of my other card. I rarely use it. Had I not had a bill coming out this month from that account, I dont think I would have ever noticed it.
There has to be some connection to Pluto Data. There is just too many cases of this, all going thru the same company? |
