I've been using email from netmail.verizon.net but not I've noticed emails that ~1 month old are deleted automatically ...Also, I've been with Verizon DSL for a bit more then a year at the $34.99 rate ...I'd like to get that down to 29.99.
1. mails: i'm not sure if there is some 'fine print' and i hate the website enough not to go to check , but netmail is designed to be used for the occasional "away from my computer use" more than as a daily mail client. the assumption is that most people use a mail client (like outlook express, thunderbird, eudora, etc.) on their computer, and use netmail when travelling, etc. so perhaps that's why they clear it out, if they really do.

additionally, many servers have a setting "keep mail left on server for x days", and yours may be set (by default or as the only choice) to 30 days. someone else here may know verizon's policy on this better; meanwhile, i suggest you consider using a regular mail client, and set that to NOT leave mail on the server.

2. you should definitely call customer service and tell them you want the $29.99 plan---available without a bundle but with a one year commitment. IF you are in an area where that is available, you should get it immediately. shoulda done it long ago . good luck!

before you do that, i suggest that you call the regular customer service number. tell them that you are distressed to learn that many are getting a $29.99 rate for the same speeds you have (you don't mention your speed, but i'm assuming you are at the top---here, i have 3/768 for that price, many places have a top of 1.5/384). and you'd like to be put on the $29.95 plan and are willing to make a one-year commitment. if they tell you that is only available with a "bundle" (i.e. a freedom package), tell them that is not what you've been told and insist on speaking to a supervisor, then eventually, if no joy there, you can ask for retention or presidential appeals.

this is all predicated on that plan being available in your area, but it certainly doesn't hurt to ask! i'm pretty sure that the only thing unique to the ny metro area is the 3/768 speed upgrade; i'm pretty sure that the $29.95 rate with one year commitment is pretty much across the country.

good luck!

Thanks guys....worth a try. The only reason I ask is because I've seen the ad being run in the western PA area. Before it used to be 29.99 with a package so I never payed much attention, but not it's only with a 1-yr agreement.

We'll see what happens
