Retentions? before you do that, i suggest that you call the regular customer service number. tell them that you are distressed to learn that many are getting a $29.99 rate for the same speeds you have (you don't mention your speed, but i'm assuming you are at the top---here, i have 3/768 for that price, many places have a top of 1.5/384). and you'd like to be put on the $29.95 plan and are willing to make a one-year commitment. if they tell you that is only available with a "bundle" (i.e. a freedom package), tell them that is not what you've been told and insist on speaking to a supervisor, then eventually, if no joy there, you can ask for retention or presidential appeals.
this is all predicated on that plan being available in your area, but it certainly doesn't hurt to ask! i'm pretty sure that the only thing unique to the ny metro area is the 3/768 speed upgrade; i'm pretty sure that the $29.95 rate with one year commitment is pretty much across the country.

| Thanks guys....worth a try. The only reason I ask is because I've seen the ad being run in the western PA area. Before it used to be 29.99 with a package so I never payed much attention, but not it's only with a 1-yr agreement.
We'll see what happens |
