[General] Problem upgrading DTA-310

I've been trying to get packet8 DTA-310 working with another provider.
I downgraded the firmware to 001111, changed the sip settings, so far so good.
But when I try to upgrade the firmware to 001234, it's no go.
Always get an error. I tried both downloading the firmware and using the updater.
I disabled the firewall, unplug everything from the router except DTA and 1 comp, tried 2 different computers.
Also tried upgrading to 001239, no go. Reset the DTA, nothing.

I almost got it working with sipphone (shows online in the portal), but cannot dial out/receive calls, I guess due to the old firmware.

Any help, ideas....thanks.

Do a search and you will get a number of hits about using the DTA-310 with other services. As for Sipphone, I tried "HARD" but was never able to get it working with Sipphone. However, I was able to get it working with Broadvoice and Asterisk so I know it is possible.

How were you trying to upgrade back to 12.34? I had to use the DTAUpgrader rather than just downloading the fimrware into the DTA. Make sure you have the correct version. Some of the downloads here are mislabled.

I have read all the threads. Nobody has reported problem when upgrading the dta firmware.

With 001111 firmware, I can dial out toll free numbers on sipphone, but as soon as I answer the call, dta crashes and there is no audio. After I hang up, there will be no dial tone and phone light on DTA will be always on. Rebooting gets back the dial tone.

I've tried both using the updater and downloading firmware from withing dta web interface without success.
I've tried files found here and also the updater I have from last year downloaded directly from packet8.

What codec and packet size are you programming it for?

Why mess with it? It's more trouble than it's worth. Pickup a SPA1001 and have so much more. You can then load up two SIP services on one phone line and you can even use STUN.

Plus you can use my mondo cool Samurize plugin with it too.

Zombie999 I'm having the exact problems you are experiencing. I've tried following several threads here, especially about Reseting the DTA. I can get to the configuration pages, but I've found absolutely no way to do a download to any version of Packet8 firmware.

Every attempt results in (through DTA config page: error Occurred Please Try Again) (through the DTA Upgraders: DTA reports firmware upgrade failed).

It seems either Packet8 has come up with a way to disable the DTA through the Downloader firmware or my DTA has somehow been corrupted, although seems a hard reset should clear this.

If you found out anything about how to get 1234 firmware, please share it.

Sadly, your best bet might be to junk the DTA310 and either get another device (even if it is another DTA310 from ebay )..

The DTA310 has two major parts to a firmware. First, you find the application code-- This includes the web setting pages you have access to, in addition to all the code behind them to make the thing work. This gets updated and tracked by the SIP version release numbers posted here and at the support page of packet8.net. (For example: 11.11 is identifying SIP firmware with application version 11.11). Version 12.34 is the application portion of the SIP firmware for the DT310. Each firmware has space to reload the "Download" portion of the firmware. This is tracked with a different version number, and the end user has no control over it-- it gets loaded when you load the application version. So, if you have application firmware of 11.11 but download firmware of 1.0 US (8x8 010113), unperdictable results may follow. Most likely, it will not perform any more upgrades using the normal method (TFTP and HTTP). You would need the developer kit to hook into the JTAG or HOST interface and get a good look-see at the "downldr.zip" portion that is in there. That would let you modify FLASH content, unless you want to de-solder your flash chip and 'extract' its content to a linux box..

It gets interesting.. The DTA310 checks it to see if the checksum is correct. If so, it loads it into the FLASH portion of the DTA310. Was it possible that power was interrupted prior to the firmware downgrade completing? It might explain why you have a mis-match.

Anyhow, sorry to hear you have a messed-up firmware load on your DTA310. If you get it working again, you can always use version 12.35 ( available at: »/r0/download/7···5unl.zip ) and forget downgrading to 11.11 or using 12.34. The 12.35 is a copy of 12.34 with full access to unlocked settings (SIP, CODECS, etc.).. Several threads speak of efforts to get 12.35 working with other providers.

Best of luck with your not-well DTA310.

Thanks for your help.
My DTA was connected to an UPS during downgrade, so power interruption is out of question.

Before you give up completely, take a chance and check out the »[DTA310] Unlocked with AR16O firmware. thread. The download may take a while, and it may [always has on me] change IP addresses when it reboots so you will have to track it down. It works if you can get it to load.

Was having the same problem you were. I flashed my unit with the AR160 firmware, and I see no way of reflashing to Packet8 firmware. If anyone knows a way please let us know.

Does your DTA310 now look like this pic?
Does it have the "DOWNLOAD" option listed?

Simple question but do you have a password installed on the DTA?

Have you tried loading a binary file directly into the DTA?

No password, and the .exe updater will not work, and nor does the .bin files. Look like I'm going to cancel Packet8 tonight.

please compare the application version and the downloader versions of your device to those in the image above (of the leadtek firmware).. I have heard of the downloader firmware getting out of sync.. once that happens, it stops upgrading...
