Snowcat join:2004-02-02 Nashville, TN | $5 more a month sounds reasonable to me. BellSouth charges more for 3.0 speed over 1.5 speed.
$5 for approximately double the speed is still a good deal. |

dbarber join:2000-07-25 West Chester, PA | reply to Doctor Olds Uh...., dumb question for anyone (Shaun, April, Rob). Will this pricing plan at some time affect EXISTING customers? -- These opinions are strictly my own. However, if you really want them, we can negotiate. |

| Hello, I have the 3.0 dsl and I am paying 49.95 plus the stupied tax. So if what you are saying is true..then I just saved a few bucks. Does this price include all customers or just new sign ups? Any info anyone can give would be great.

rjbied join:2005-02-09 Chicago, IL | reply to dbarber I don't believe that EL really cares about the existing customer base. I pay $50 / month. The only way EL will drop me to $40 / month is if I agree to a one year commitment and a $150 early termination fee. I have been with EL since it was Netcom. I would consider myself a loyal customer of many years, hardly a flight risk. I am strongly considering a move to SBC where a one year commitment will make a $$$ difference. |

Read this thread (use SBC, Verizon, or anyone in your area that is lower). »Will EL pricematch new Verizon offer ?
The secret is the first time you hear no, say "thank you" and then "good bye". Then call back until you get a deal. It may work the first time or it may be the 3rd time, but above all be polite.
I had a $29.95 price match for almost 2 Years.

| Have been a earthlink customer for a few years now. I am happy with the service and speed. Even when it was a pain in the ass to get the 3.0 upgrade. But overall I am happy so if I have to agree to a 6 month or 1 year plan that is cool by me. I guess I wil try to contact them and see what I can find out.
Thanks for the info.

You do not have to agree to a contract to get a 6 month price match. I thought I made that clear above? Sorry if I didn't.
Just keep calling back every 6 months to renew the price match.

 | Well, maybe you can cut a deal with your municipality where you don't have to pay taxes but the police won't answer your calls and your house is on the fire department's "do not respond" list.
Sorry, couldn't resist. |

| Sorry DO not mean to go off topic...but I don't mind paying taxes...and I know it goes to the police and firefighters...but I work, I pay taxes, I eat, I pay taxes, I get gas, by clothes, I drink water, now if I want to have fun and screw around on the NET....I PAY TAXES! When I first started with DSL and even dial up, no taxes...so what now that a lot of people are on the net, they need taxes for some reason...BS!
Also I am a city worker..so that means I work for the city and guess what...my own taxes pay my own salary...I guess I am going to give myself a raise.
Sorry off topic..will not happen again.
