Very cool.

I've been looking for an equivalent in Safari to hitting "apple + d" in Firefox. It selects the address bar.

Anyone know any?

An addendum: Apple + H doesn't really hide the Finder, per se. Unless their definition of the Finder is any program that is currently active (active window).

Don't confuse programs with windows. Programs are not windows, and windows are not programs. Programs have windows as openings into their souls, but killing a window does not kill a program, nor does hiding it hide a program.

When you kill a program, what happens to its soul?

Either you misread my post or I'm misreading yours. My original post was in regards to the Aplle + H command (hide), so let's not talk about Apple + Q (quit). Apple + H will hide all windows of a program running in the foreground. That was the point of my post.

An atheist thinks of the result of "kill -9," most Judeo-Christians would hope for "kill -INT," while Buddists favor "kill -HUP"

While on the subject of key board shortcuts, are some only for newer keybaords?

For example [Up Arrow] + Apple + N to create a new folder
- Where is the up arrow? I have the obvious U-D-L-R arrows, but it doesn't seem to work.

Safari Download is launched with [some character] + Apple + L.
- Where is that character or what does it stand for?

The Del key has the X thing pointing right. Where is the left-pointing X thing?

Granted, I'm on a G3 using an AppleDesign Keyboard from 1995, which is what I think the problem is

The up arrow is Shift, the ^ character is control, the icon representing a switch is the option (alt) key, and the left X is really the backspace key. Oddly enough the IBM Aptiva keyboard I'm using right now has a left-pointing X arrow on the backspace key

This is a useful reference: »All things Macintosh »What are all these strange symbols in the menus?

The special characters should be for the most part the same. For instance, the "up arrow" means the control key.

Is there a command to get a Mac to Retart while just using the keyboard? There was a type of power button on the old keyboard, but the new ones have eject instead.

Ctrl+Eject will shut it down.

Control-Eject will bring up the old

Hit "r" to restart, "s" to sleep, "esc" to cancel and "return" to shutdown

I'm just better at mashing buttons quicker. (I never shut my Macs down, so I didn't know either).

Well made programs lay in the Application folder until being re-launced.... bad programs go to Windows.
