Back then it was "impossible". They did state it would be "possible" when Bell introduced their own VoIP service near the end of the year.

Gee, how times change in a few weeks!
Funny how competition is changing things? Videotron is currently heavily harvesting Bell customers with our VoIP service. The soup is getting hotter, Bell know it's better keeping a DSL access than loosing everything.
