MxxCon join:1999-11-19 Brooklyn, NY | How to remove SecureROM7? hi. yesterday i bought Constantine game. but it's refusing to play on my system(dvd drive) so i uninstalled it and will try to return it tomorrow. however this game also installed(and didn't uninstall) SecureROM7 copy protection. i noticed it because i have a process running called "UAService7.exe" at 1st i thought it was some spyware, but i looked thru that file and found a few strings "SecuROM User Access Service (V7)". so then i looked at my services list and sure enough i have that crap there.
how the hell do i properly and completely remove it? -- [Sig removed by Administrator: Signature can not exceed 20GB] |

 | If you simply want to disable that service you need to :
Click>Start>run>
type : services.msc (enter)
find SecuROM user access and set it to manual : stop
000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Otherwise, you need to have an original version of the cd with no virtual drives, and make sure RMPS is turned on on an emulator like daemon tools, if you're playing a backed up copy. |

 | reply to MxxCon Well stop the Service from services.msc and then destroy it. + regedit search regs and delete them also. That's what I did anyways. I believe that this came with Republic Commando... HUHH and even uninstalling the game didnt help. |

 | reply to MxxCon Here is how
1 .change directory to c:\windows\system32 (or whatever you name your windows directory)
CD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
2. Type this
AUService7.exe -remove
That's it |

It will be in there. Find the entry and delete it. |

MxxCon join:1999-11-19 Brooklyn, NY | again, this is just 'hacky' way of removing that service. it doesn't take care of any other registry keys that will be left behind, nor any files that might be all over the place.
if i wanted to do it, i would've done it long time ago and didn't bother making this thread -- [Sig removed by Administrator: Signature can not exceed 20GB] |

| reply to MxxCon The manufacturer might have a patch to a remove the usage of that software, I have Myst4, and it does use a copy protection software which caused my computer to randomly crash, very freakin annoying, along with you had to run the game in an admin account which should never be necessary.
Anyway they did have a patch people could download that you could apply to your current install, and it wouldn't verify/install/reinstall the copy protection anymore, along you could run the software in a user account.
All of these damn copy protection software companies are crap! Pure and simple! -- My hourly rates: $25 per hour. $35 per hour if you want to watch. $45 per hour if you want to help. $75 per hour if you tried to fix it, and failed. The biggest error is sitting in front of your keyboard. |
