| Can't get Pro package? Attainable Rate: 3.57m/784!
Hi,
Every time I call to see if my SBC Yahoo DSL line can be upgraded from Express to Pro, I'm told that my DSL line cannot support the Pro package.
Well, I've got two DSL modems. My original SBC Yahoo Efficient Speedstream 5360 (060-5360-123) and an Efficient Speedstream 5660 (060-5660-014). I recently bought the Speedstream 5660 because I was curious as to whether my DSL line was capable of the higher speed. The 5660 modem has reported these approximate values (with very small deviation), consistently for the last two months:
DSL Channel Info ATU-R ATU-C Current TX Rate (bps) 384000 1536000 Previous TX Rate (bps) 384000 1536000
DSL Physical Layer Info ATU-R ATU-C Current Attainable Rate 783673 3572093 Current SNR Margin 16.5 16.0 Current Attenuation 53.0 31.0 Current Output Power 2.0 16.5
To me, the values reported indicate that my line is capable of 3.5Mbps/768kbps. Why do I keep being told that I cannot upgrade?
A friend of mine borrowed my 5660, because he also has been told he cannot upgrade. He's got these statistics:
DSL Channel Info ATU-R ATU-C Current TX Rate (bps) 384000 1536000 Previous TX Rate (bps) 384000 1536000
DSL Physical Layer Info ATU-R ATU-C Current Attainable Rate 673684 3339130 Current SNR Margin 15.0 16.0 Current Attenuation 47.0 29.0 Current Output Power 4.0 17.5
Any ideas why he's not allowed to upgrade to Pro either? We're both in Chicago proper, between 11-13K ft from our CO's.
Thanks, --justbits |
