| Problem with XP /Nvidia
Hi all, The other night I was using Easy Cleaner and cleaning out the registry. I went into the start up tab part of it and it had the options to delete. I thought this meant to disable not really delete the things!!! Anyway one of the 2 things that was deleted was the NVIDIA NDIS I believe it is called. Now when I boot up...i can only get to the Windows XP boot screen and then it reboots. I can't do safe mode or anything.
I used a program called ERD commander and was able to mimic the xp desktop and went into the system event viewer and saw that the NVIDIA NDIS (I think it is NDIS) is missing. Is there a way for me to recover from this stupid blunder. I know I could have used msconfig to disable but I thought this was the same thing. Anyway any ideas?

| The only thing that comes to mind is a repair install from your original Windows setup disk. It will save all your data files. Programs you installed will probably have to be installed again, but their configuration files usually are preserved. Expect to spend a couple of hours putting things back.
You need to get acquainted with Ghost. Any time you do stuff like this that has the potential for major screwup, you can cover your posterior by having an image of your system available to restore. If you have a free hard disk, or some room on a second disk, or even a partition with enough free space on your only disk, you can Ghost a backup image. Restoring is easy enough, you just boot to the Ghost disk and a few clicks of the mouse and ten minutes will put your system back the way it was. |

| reply to Chemop If you can boot with ERD commander, you should be able to switch to a generic video driver and restart.
After you are back into windows, you will need to reinstall the nvidia drivers.
You could also try running Easy Cleaner after booting with ERD Commander. It keeps a backup of everything you delete. -- Google is your Friend |

Thanks for the heads up. |
