| ? about DVR box performance
Has anyone had any problems with the video/audio sync going through the hd/dvr box that insight provides. My box is not syncing. Also, the quality of the video on the channels below 100 are really bad on my HDTV. Anyone else experience this?
Thanks for your time!!!! |

| Insight has known about this problem for some time. The analog channels, those below 99, are just not of a very good quality. When the cable guy installed my HD/DVR box, he split the signal so that I had a raw cable signal available for the lower channels. Luckily, my Sony 34XBR910 has spare inputs for this. This can cause a problem if you are using a home theater receiver to route all of your inputs. However, it does confuse my wife when she doesn't remember to switch inputs. Last fall Insight said that they were getting a new HD/DVR cable box that would have the problem solved and that it would be available early 2005. I just talked to them this last week and now they don't seem to know when the new cable boxes will be available. |

| reply to superakcraig A couple of hints:
- Sometimes the sync problem is your TV. In its dilligence to clean up the NTSC signal, it can delay the video by a few tens of milliseconds. My Samsung has a delay circuit built into the audio system of the TV which does a reasonable job of putting everything back together. But if you use an exernal amp, you might just have to put up with it. I doubt your problem is caused by the cable box.
- If you have the 6208, you might try setting your 4:3 override to 480i and not 480p in the setup menu (power off the 6208 and hit the menu button to get into the set up menu). My set has a better time cleaning up the signal if it's 480i. Another thing to try is to view the SDTV channels through the S-Video connection and not the component cables. |
