| [video] Funny 911 Tape
Hey all,
I'm a 911 Dispatcher and we had this call on record at work. I personally think it's the funniest call I have ever heard, but of course, others may not understand the humuor unless they work in the industry. |

@teksavvy.com | That was awesome. I bet you guys get stupid calls like that all the time. Sounds like she got exactly what she deserved. A woman who thinks the cops will help her out with that is obviously a huge bitch. |

It is these types of stupidity that drains the resources from more important issues we have today. |

| reply to ccoggle I can't believe a 911 dispatcher would allow the 911 lines to be tied up for nearly 2 1/2 minutes by that idiot. The dispatcher should have told that woman that she is tieing up an emergency line and that if she ever called 911 again for a non-emergency issue, she'd be arrested. What if there had been a real emergency at that time? --

Tying up a 911 line for 2.5 minutes isn't that bad, I would say...75% of the calls we receive on 911 could be reported on the non-emergency lines. Most people are simply too lazy to lookup the number. I don't blame them personally, the 911's and non-emergencies come to the same place, same people. They pay their taxes and have a right to use it when they see the need.
One person on a 2.5 minute call isn't that bad. An average accident on the freeway probably produces 20+ calls? A roll over or worse on the freeway can produce upwards of 50+ calls.
We get calls much worse than this, they just usually aren't as funny. |

| I don't blame them personally, the 911's and non-emergencies come to the same place, same people. Perhaps that's true where you are, and is generally true in areas serviced by Sheriff's departments that cover an entire county or metro area.
However, in areas like major cities or compact suburbs, 911 usually goes to a central dispatch area that works with multiple police and fire agencies. That's why it pisses me off when people call 911 for stupid shit.
Perhaps they should institute a secondary number like 912 for non-emergency calls so that it will be directed to their local police department without the fuss of having to look it up. It would be very easy to implement with current equipment. |

I actually work in a PSAP answering 911. We service 9 police jurisdictions, 11 fire & medical jurisdictions and 9 city service jurisdictions. Each of the jurisdictions ranges in size and population but all are dense urban areas. Regardless of where you live, it's still the same, they are there to service you. |

| So they are, in fact, not speaking to the same people they would if they were to call their local PD station (where you are)?
If so, you have a right to be upset with stupid shit like this. Of course it's comedy relief, but it's still sad that people are so lame. |

| reply to ccoggle Listen. Seriously. I live in Laguna Hills which is 5 minutes from Laguna Niguel and 15 minutes from San Clemente, CA. This is the Soccer-mom capital of the world. Everyone here is rich and they think that they are entitled to the world. I wouldn't be surprised if they had an entire smithsonian-sized catalogue of 911 calls from idiot callers like this lady. These are same people that then proceed to file a lwasuit against the 911 dispatcher and the local police on the grounds of mental anguish and pain and suffering for her kids that don't get their western bacon cheeseburger. Personally - I would have dispatched a patrol car there advising that she was armed and dangerous and should be exterminated with extreme prejudice..... Just when you think Darwinism is winning the battle, we get a healthy dose of people like this and it makes you wonder.:p |
