Re: Intel pro/wireless 2200 BG Problems.

Here's an update. I uninstalled the latest intel driver and rolled back to the stock win xp driver for the wireless nic. That improved the connection drastically. No more frequent disconnects or speed drops. XP manages the wireless. It stays at 54Mbps for a majority of the time, and online speedtest is up near 4Mbps now. The stock xp version is dated 3/8/2004 and is 8.0.12.20000. Hopefully this may help in solving others' problems

How can I force the xp drivers for this intel wireless.
I uninstalled the intel drivers, but when the loptop restart install the same intel drivers again.
Can you help?
thanks

hey manadigi, so if you're trying to update the driver to a newer version, just go to start->control panel->system->hardware->device manager->right-click on your wireless card under network adapters and choose properties. then go to the drivers tab and hit update driver and choose install from a list or specific location. then hit the browse button and find wherever you put the new driver you downloaded. If you're like me and want to install an older driver version, you need to choose "don't search. i will choose the driver t o install. then hit "have disk" and choose the location of the driver you downloaded... If you're just trying to roll back the driver to the previous one that was installed (which may not be the stock winxp driver, it might just be an older version than what you have), then under the 'driver' tab previously mentioned, choose roll back driver. good luck

thanks jblack5, I did the update driver from the Device Manager(update) and works fine, now I have only 1 icon in my desktop right side bottom, when I installed direct from the file that I downloaded it's create a second icon like a green parking meter symbol and was kinda confusing because I had 2 icon for the same application.
If I want to roll/back I can't because there is a window that said there is not earlier version and doesn't give me any other choice. Now the speed is more stable than before
thanks for the help.

I had also all the time the problem which was described in this tread.

Since that I have updated the driver and WLAN Software with version 9.0.2.0, everything is working perfectly.
No connection drops and the signal is all the time as strong as it never has been before.

The latest drivers still have Transmit Power problems. Intel seems unable or unwilling to fix this.

I tested the transmit power at different settings while running NetStumbler to check Signal/Noise dBm, and there was no difference at all in the signal strength between the 5 different power level settings. The only difference I notice is in the reported "CCX TPC" under "Details" in ProSet. But I don't think that even plays a factor unless you're connecting to a Cisco-based router with the Radio Management stuff.

Am I not testing correctly?

Install this install that reinstall windows. What the?!!//n th/ are you all doing? It should be clear by now that the hardware is buggy. Go buy a PCIMCA card and disable that piece of garbage and pray that its not the architecture on the motherboard.

Let's go waaay out on a limb here, and assume that some folks with these cards already broke the budget to get the laptop and don't have the disposable income to shell out for another wireless device - to say nothing of their (very reasonable) expectation that the one they bought should work as advertised.

To any such folks reading or posting in this thread, your response might be seen as, well, let's say less than helpful.

No more than any other miniPCI card.
