This is nothing new. This has gone on forever. It was far more difficult when the Internic controlled everything. Now that any fly by night moron can be a registrar, it's just easier. Tom, Dick, and Harry are registrars and they hire the cheapest labor they can find (which usually translates to idiots), to man the phones and provide customer support. Larger organizations that have fully automated systems are pretty easy to hack with just a pinch of social engineering. |
