| CV and an extra DHCP address
I was paying ~$60 per month with NC BellSouth for the service that had VM and all of the bells and whistles attached to it (e.g. caller id, forward, etc.)
When I found I could keep my phone number I went into this head first--but I did something pretty good in the run, I got an extra DHCP address from Time Warner just for the TA.
That way I have the TA sitting there just as the VoIP realm and my router/server/LAN setup are all isolated from the whole thing.
Sure, my bandwidth on the modem is shared on each of the two devices for the overall throughput, but I have never had a problem with CallVantage.
OK. I signed up and got $10 off per month for the first 6 months. Also they gave me my first three months free, so:
CallVantage:
Year 1 = $180 Year 2 = $360
TimeWarner extra DHCP:
Year 1 = $120 Year 2 = $120
** TOTAL FOR 2 YEARS CallVantage & Extra Time Warner Costs **
$780
BellSouth:
Year 1 = $720 Year 2 = $720
** TOTAL FOR 2 YEARS BellSouth **
$1,440
Well, for the cost and the features--like the built in calling card when you call the CallVantage message center, notification through e-mail, web-access to VM from Internet and all of the other features. . .this is about the best deal you can come up with.
