Dear Msakr,
If the issue is the international link, NTRA has nothing to do, that's out of the ISP hands.

would someone who has a problem with TEData post a trace snapshot, I just want to know where the delay happens (since my line works perfectly as posted before). Just a minor issue, I used to peak at 56 KB, now about 53 (512 Kbps)
Here's my trace

Insane high time for the seabone link. Funny thing is friends I know have a 90ms response time from the seabone link.

This's my trace route at 4:37pm!

I have called them again, the guy told me there's no problems at all in your line nor SEABONE backbone route!.
It's just could be a Pressure in your area central...
i told him it's not a 50+ms delay it's about 450+ms each day from 2pm - 3am and that i know alot of people in same area ( Dar al salam ) who have awesome service from TE-data and link.He just said the same thing again it might be a pressure.... i dunno but this's wrong!

Well, as far as I know up to 240 ms is considered acceptable in the Egyptian market, I know you must be getting problems regarding your gaming experience but that's how things work, you cannot control everything, for Vodafone guys, this is extremely weird, TE Data managed to get their seabone sort of fized, but Vodafone not?!!
and regarding the exchange pressure that's BS, you have the trace indicating it is seabone problem!

Granted there must be a problem at seabone, but why the extreme variance in service quality between providers? maybe TE Data has better SLA? or bigger share of the bandwidth (naturally).

Well, and we were complaining about the delay
now forget everything, your packets run around the globe to reach anywhere.

Well ye funny cables again , but the weird is that i have better latency and ping now lawl!

@tedata.net

For what it's worth, TEData are now routing via flag, which seems to be so much more congested than even the backup link that they had running via turktelecom.

Quite pathetic really.. calling tedata doesn't help as they make you sit through a 2 minute description of how they've successfully fixed all the internet problems!

MSakr

@menanet.net

Ye ,well i miss Turktelecom! had about 250 ms latency in end-hops.. but since they put flag back things are messed up!

Here's a trace route for the same website u tested on :

So SMW4 looks like it has been repaired and TEData have switched back to seabone.

However, the latencies are bad.. better than the last two and a half weeks obviously but about 3x what they were before the outage.

9 295 ms 296 ms 294 ms xe-10-0-0.fra20.ip.tiscali.net [89.149.187.237]

This is early morning so i doubt it's congested. Could just be people catching up on not having proper internet for a few weeks but to me it looks very suspicious.

Hey guys, I live in Egypt, Rehab to be specific, and I recently canceled my subscription to link.net and received my cancelation number. Now I want to sign up with a good ISP but I can’t make up my mind specifically after reading this thread, obviously they are all crooks in our eyes. Can you please help me decide where to go(best crook)?

I’m looking forward to get the speed I pay for with a reasonable ping, I know I can’t get good ping in Egypt so ill settle with “reasonable”.

I also am looking for an isp which is currently stable (an isp that managed to pull itself together after the cables were cut and fully recovered also no purchasing banwidth from other isp’s and swiching sea-cables crap or other tricks). I mainly use my line for: work, online gaming and sometimes torrents.

I know it’s not a big pool of isp’s to choose from: tedata, link, egynet, nileonline, raya etc…(Vodafone still doesn’t support rehab) so can someone please give me updated information about his isp’s DL speed, ping, quality etc … and if there is currently any tricks inorder to avoid that isp? (other than link )

also is nile-online still on tedata’s bandwidth to this date? Did it degrade in quality after etisalat acquired it?is it still worth the extra money it charges?

If you live in Rehab or close would be a plus.

Thanks in advance.

hey samba77, i just moved near Rehab a few months ago, had the same problem with the shitty ISP's giving you very low speed or no speed at all, anyway last two ISP's i tried were the wireless type ( Etisalat, MobiniL ) :

-MobiniL : Listen carefully to this, In there Ads they say: you MAY have a speed up to 7.2Mbps, i get a max. of 1Mbps for this, that's about 120kb/s download speed and not all the time (sometimes it reaches 10kb/s)and have some down time IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY.
Note that they take their internet from Link Egypt as i found out by looking up my IP.

-Etisalat : i tried the 385kbps package for a while it seemed pretty good, even better than Tedata - which i tried at my old home - and the connection speed was good all the time giving me about 47kb/s download speed, and a nice ping 200ms to Europe, i haven't tried the higher package which is also 7.2Mbps for about 300EGP and limited to 6 G.B. -lol they say unlimited- but i guess it would be fine.
Note that etisalat is an independent ISP unlike MobiniL.

Oh, i made this site »www.egyptisp.blogspot.com While i was in my misery trying to get a good isp in the last vacation - i spent it without internet -
i am trying to make an isp statistics to help people know the best isp they can deal with.

Any one living in Maadi who is experiencing a very slow connection for the the last 4 to 5 days to any international site. The only thing working at full bandwidth is tedata website and some local sites?

Hi, i`m so glad to find this threat but was better to keep it up to date weekly or so, anyway i was suffering of link.Net LIES after the last january 2009 cable cuts, the ping is always higly variable which indicates every latency application will be terrible (i`m a WOW player LONG ago)

so they kpet LYING when i speak to them as usual trying to tell me that "Oh sir everything is ok, are you halucinating Sir? "
WOW was unplayabale (same goes with browsing which was heavy)

anyway i left that line for my niegbour and i got NTRA fixed my "pair Gun" line!!!

and subscribed with vodafone blindly, i liked the 7 Gb for P2P limit idea since it indicates they r a MATURE company and the bandwidth will be Evenly distributed to customers

but after subscribing 6 weeks ago and i`m seeing NIGHTMARES (compared to Link.net)

the 1 Mbps in miami central /Alexandria is :
MAXIMUM 70 k Downlaod speed , and may drop to 20 kbps in peak hours!!!

Wow is Tottaly unplayable in parties ( i instanly get disonnected)
The Only good point is that they were FRANK not LIERS unlike Link.net they all told me that Around 15/7 they have a "Global link Upgrade" and they seemed to have that as an issue accross egypt

but through the time internet worsened so i kept calling them !! they subscribe more users while the capcacity is already overloaded (or having problems)
so i was surprised wehn 2 calls to customer support they informed me that ALSO my telephone Exchange (sidi bishr 2 aka miami) is having problems and needs upgrade and they are waiting for TE allowance to upgrade which might take long time

so i`m waiting for tommorow and hoping that the GlobalLink upgrade fixes my connection as its realy the worst service i have seen long ago.

Cheers
