Re: Sprint

I agree. I stuck with Sprint for a while because even though the local cable companies blocked ports and did all sorts of weird routing stuff to keep you just browsing and nothing else. But it still stands that they should not interleave you if it's unnecessary.

Have you see the alternatives, in some Sprint areas, like this one where I got a few friends: »www.cox.com/LasVegas/highspeedin···rred.asp
Interleaved 1.5Mb is much better than a 7.5GB monthly limit!

In SBC/Ameritech land, we have lots of Comcast advertising ("you're not at 3 megs? get a life!") and while their limits are invisible, they are surely a bit higher than 7.5GB.
6.0Mb Fastpath sure is nice. Too bad we have 8 months of snow on the ground with alternating melt/freeze cycles!

Sprint as well puts all (well, actually most) of their customers on interleave by default no matter what their line stats look like. Newer reps in their tech support department don't even know what fast path or interleave is so if you call up you will get a dumbfounded response. SBC has the right idea with their "ramp up" where it tests your lines and puts it on only when necessary. Unfortunately their script isn't 100% so some customer's get put on it accidentally but a quick call to tech support (assuming you get an agent who knows what you are talking about) or an IM to the right people on these forums will put you where you need to be.
