gopikrish join:2002-11-27 India	Win XP Pro CD key lost I have a Win Xp pro CD. But I forgot the CD key. Any way I can find it please? I need it urgently. Thanks.

gopikrish join:2002-11-27 India	reply to gopikrish I tried to boot from that CD but its not booting.I mean its straight booting from my hard disk rather than CD drive even though I have set up first boot device as CD drive ! Only if I have the Win XP cd that is installed in my system, will the system boot from that CD?

Well, maybe that new CD is not good if it won't boot. Is it a legitimate CD? If so, maybe the CD reader is bad. Try booting from the CD in another machine set to boot first from its CD drive. If the "XP" cd you have won't boot in any machine, its bad! "Only if I have the Win XP cd that is installed in my system, will the system boot from that CD?' The answer to the last question is "NO, you should be able to boot from the CD with a valid windows XP CD even if XP is not presently installed on the computer, provided that the computer is set to boot first from the CD drive."
