Just got the new rate of $19.95 today as of 4/30 extremely easy. The CS in the Customer Retention agreed right away the moment I asked for the new rate. She said that it would go into effect starting 5/09, so that makes it 10 days or so. I was paying $26.95 prior. Thank you all. You guys are great. |

I don't want to seem like I am no longer honoring what I wrote back on 3-25-2005, about if you want the number IM me, and I'll send it to you.
But on the same page, tonydi, gave you the number in his post.
Please READ what is ALREADY posted, and just maybe you will save yourself some time.
So, as of this posting, I will no longer send the number via IM to those who ask for it. IT"S ALREADY POSTED!!!! And re-quoted above. -- Tim |

But when I called it on Saturday 4/30 (which was the day iamvince said he called) I got a recording telling me to call back on Monday.
That's why I posted asking what number he called to speak with somebody on a Saturday.
FYI, I called back yesterday and renewed at the $19.95 price. -- Next time you wave at me, use ALL your fingers. |

| Maybe you should read through what you skipped, because if you do, you'll see that the majority of posters who correctly followed the instructions (see below) did indeed rerate their service down to the $19.95 month by calling 800-579-7861 and asking for the Customer Retention Department.
Sounds like a good time to do this myself.
said by Authority : Only the customer retention people are authorized to change the rate, not the first level customer service people. They don't automatically change your rate, you have to say something like "I was thinking of canceling my contract" or "I want to renew at the lower rate of $19.95 you're advertising". From what I was told this is wide oepn, they're not giving people a hard time, though if they get a flood of calls (as they should) that might change.

I'd count your lucky stars if I were you to be getting business class service for the 'average' residential price.
You could be paying a whole lot more most other places then what you are for your current service. |

Do you get a Contract and a SLA? what uptime % do they guarantee? |

| Just the 19.95 price. Thanks all for the number. Their regular billing folks had me jumping hoops and asking if I was going to quit the service, but I was afraid that if I did say it, they would and I would have to pay the $200 fee. He did say I could quit and rejoin and I told him how illogical his statement was since I was trying to save money.
I called the DSL retention center and explain the situation and how I brought in three new customers in the last two months who are enjoying 19.95 price and I am still paying 26.95 and how it was irking me. Well, she was very nice, put me on hold and then told me that she would give me the 19.95 price. Hoody hoo. |

| reply to drsauced I have a static IP from when that's all they offered. I still got the 26.95 rate when that was the best offered. I'll get this rate too, eventually. They initially wouldn't give it to me so I complained to the CPUC. »www.cpuc.ca.gov/static/forms/complaint.htm That's what worked for me last time. CPUC regulations prohibit discrimination, including that between new and extant customers. |

| reply to Authority Another datapoint: Just (2:20pm PDT Saturday) got off the phone with DSL Retention (I used the 800-579-7861 number, immediately asking to be transferred to Retention.)
First rep I got was insistent that since I was not a new subscriber there was no way to get the $19.95 rate without a LD package. She further insisted that she hadn't heard of anyone getting it.
I asked if I could speak with a supervisor. After about a minute on hold, the Supervisor came on, politely identified herself and said "May I ask you a question?" I said sure. She said, as if reading from a script, "If you do not get a rate reduction, are you considering dropping your DSL service?" Well, in truth it's too much of a hassle to save $90, so I replied, "Um, yes, I'm considering it. Uh, I have this brochure from Adelphia that says -- "
With that, she cut me off and apologized for the delay, saying she would be happy to tell the rep to give me the lower rate. She apologized again and transferred me back to the original rep, who gave me the lower rate for a year. |

Hi, Sorry for taking so long to answer your reply to my post. Glad to see you were able to get the lower price.
But no, I wasn't replying to your question.
I made my post because I was still getting IM requests for the number.
(Added EDIT: Just checked again, and there is another IM requesting the number}
As you can see I wasn't able to check in until today, so any IMs I had would have gone unanswered. -- Tim |

Spoke with a very nice woman who granted me the 29.99 rate for the PRO package after some haggling. She first told me that this rate was only available to existing customers *IF they also had the "All Distance" package, which I had. But then I told her I was going to be dropping the All Distance package soon so what would the rate change to? (I did not tell her it was because I am going to be using SunRocket VoIP) She said if I dropped the All Distance package, then if my account was audited, they would rerate me to the monthly rate of 59.99. I argued with her that this is unnacceptable since I am renewing a 1 year contract I do not want to be billed a month to month rate. I was very nice and told her that I did not mind keeping my 36.99 rate if I could drop All Distance. She then put me on hold to speak with her supervisor.
A few minutes later she told me she had authorization to give me the 29.99 regardless of whether I had All Distance or not. She said she made a note on my account including her supervisor's phone# that the 29.99 rate will be provided without All Distance. She then offered to remove the All Distance now, and I agreed.
So now I have a basic phone service with 29.99 Pro dsl package and Sunrocket VoIP service for 15.00 with 2 phone numbers and the full compliment of features = a full top of the line communications package for under $60 including taxes, etc. not bad. Cut $40 off my monthly bills. |

| reply to Authority I called last week and got the rate on my first try! They said I will be glad to give you the lower rate. She put me on hold and when she came back confirm that the new rate would go in effect next pay cycle! $19.95!!! WOW! Back in 2000 I would have never thought the price could ever come down to $19.99! |
