is that a HEMI V8? as it doesn't say anything unless i missed something somewhere. it would be alot better then the old crown vics, which has no balls for chasing anyone...

I thought what with technology advances and all, the move was towards not needing to "chase" the criminals in the first place thereby avoiding such things as accidental collisions.

Might be built in Brampton but we could never afford a fleet of them. This isn't LA you know. In the US ghost cars are built and painted that way. In Canada ghost cars are old rusted marked cars bondoed up and repainted.:o;)

Tell that to the nice new OPP ghost car running a laser speed trap in Chatsworth, ON yesterday. No bondo on that puppy.

Same with Toronto, they buy them new that way. I was in Port Hope last weekend, they even have one! They only have 3 cars total!

All of Ottawa's ghost cars and the Ottawa OPP ghost cars are "new" they were never "bondo'd". Although, when you see a perfectly clean Impala with no hubcaps, it's pretty obvious what it is

The OPP ghost cars around here are dark green or dark blue.

That makes a pretty neat police cruiser...of course, they could always bug DC to make the SRT-8 into a cruiser and get the 6.1L HEMI with 425 HP

Around Ottawa, the cops out on 17 even use an undercover type dark coloured van.

I thought that was kinda neat. But wondered how it would ever outrun someone on the highway.

Were they vans or SUV's with blacked out windows? If that's the case those are special forces. Something like SWAT down south. I've seen them myself in full combat fatigues and Velcro strapped automatic handguns on the leg. I was picking them up chatting back and forth on my scanner but they were big time encrypted.

That would be JTF2. Joint Task Force Two. A highly specialized unit made up of rcmp tac officers and soldiers. They're based just outside of Ottawa.

They were dressed like this without the headgear and rifle.
Cool, I did personally see them on the 401 at a service area. I didn't know what their official names were but now I do. You could see the confidence in their eyes and that they knew their jobs.

There's no way you saw JTF2, especially at a service area. Their the most top secret Canadian task force, all of their identities are top secret, and you say you saw them walking around in a service area without head gear...HA! What you saw was probably just the ETF (Emergency Task Force) their the equivalent of SWAT in the States.

my dad works on base in halifax, and he definately saw them pull into the base, unload, and head into a training center building.

It's amazing how you know what I saw. Do you know also where along the 401 I saw them too. They were a stones throw from the Lansdowne crossing(terrorist central). I might not have known what their name was but I know how they were dressed. I definitely remember the knee and elbow pads. The 9mm handguns strapped to their legs and pocket covered uniforms. It was winter yet they weren't wearing jackets and you could easily tell they were wearing bullet proof vests under their cloths. The picture I posted closely resembles what I saw.

Dunno what you saw; but I see the Peel and OPP ETF a lot at an esso station in meadowvale (where they take their yukons through the car wash). Coincidence there is a tim hortons inside?

P.S. Peel/OPP ETF wear exactly what you described. Black or navy uniform (can't tell) with the same colour of badge on the side so it blends right in. Guns everywhere. *shrug*.

WCB and Argentia ESSO? I'm sure the fact there's Timmy's there is just a coincidence.

I've seen upwards of 4-5 OPP cruisers at the eastbound Dutton service centre sometimes.

Speaking of stealthy police vehicles I was down in Windsor this weekend and saw a new black Chevy Silverado SS that was lit up like a Christmas tree! It had someone pulled over on the EC Row expressway.

Told my dad about it (he works for WPS) and he said yeah, they just took delivery of that "ghost" car last week.

ROTFL! JTF2 trains at LFTC (Central) regularly. We just watch for their boats and the helicopters.

Fake JTF2 Memorabilia for Sale on EBAY
Josh Pringle
Sunday, March 27, 2005

The Canadian Forces has declared war on those selling fake Joint Task Force 2 memorabilia on EBAY.

A spokesperson says fake crests in full colour, identification tabs for uniforms and rank badges with the JTF-2 emblem have been selling on the internet auction site over the last few months. The patches are being sold for 20 dollars US.

For security reasons, members of the elite commando unit do not wear any identifying insignia for the JTF-2.

I can't see the Hemi V-8 being used in the police cruiser, though a regular V-8 would be.

Long-term reliability of the multi-displacement Hemi is unknown.

Re: Built in Brampton: Dodge Charger Police Versio

The V-8's in the Charger, Magnum and 300C are all "Hemi". The 5.7 and 6.1 litre engines are Hemi's, (well lets face it, quite a few engines have hemispherical chambers) it is DaimlerChrysler trademark after all

Most likely though, the 3.5 V-6 would do the job for a police magnum used as a support vehicle

No it was a van that I had seen. The only way I knew it was a police vehicle were the flashing headlights and the little flashing lights up in the dash.

That and it had a car stopped.

Re: Built in Brampton: Dodge Charger Police Versio

but truly, that is a good thing. who needs a 400 hp car when the speed limit is 80km/hr? and gas is god only knows what per gallon.

what a waste of resources!

build hybrids. hell, build water purifiers instead. build solar panels. too many cars and too many parking lots already.

build a giant hi-speed monorail from montreal to richmond va!
now that would be money well spent.

we would be pushing for hybrid/hydrogen veichles, but through no fault of our own we are linked to the american market, so more SUVs light trucks, oversized cars.
