Anybody have success at getting a price break?

I've been an Insight broadband subscriber for quite a while (ever since @Home went belly up). I pay $44.95 for the service and have been happy with it. When I signed up there were no promotional prices associated -- you want it, you pay full price.

So, today I hear a promotional price commercial that says new subscribers can get Insightbb for $29 a month for a full year before the full price kicks in. Has anybody tried calling Insight to get rerated? Any luck?

Nope. They said they would still give me $10 off Internet if I upgraded to Digital Cable. That promotion was taken off the website.

It's a pretty crappy policy to advertise a lower rate for non-customers for a whole year and not give your loyal customers some kind of break. Bad judgement on the part of Insight's marketing people.

BTW, I called, complained and got a free month.

What are the parameters of this deal? I should just cancel and have my roommate sigh up

I cannot find the deal on the insight web page. Anyone have a link?

I don't think it is listed on their website but Insight is running constant TV commercials advertising it.

The plan is Insight Together. If you have basic cable and want to get Internet it is $30 a month. I asked how long I would have to be disconnected to be considered a new customer, and said I would get satellite since I would need a box for each tv for digital cable, might as well go satellite, toe customer rep. kind of agreed with that the new promotion did nothing for existing customers and said something would be coming out for existing customers, yea right.

New PS. I since have seen updated adds $30 for broadband and $70 for classic cable and broadband. I will have to call and ask again. My monthly bill is $90 for classic and broadband.

"and said something would be coming out for existing customers, yea right."

Actually in another recent thread here. That comment was also mentioned. I think the person who mentioned it might have been someone who might know of such things. But I honestly can't remember who made the comment.

AT&T had a program were your bill gave you something like the comp points you get when gambling. You take these points and redeem them for different merchandise. I guess most would call this a customer rewards program. I thought it was a good idea at the time. And put it to use a few times - when AT&T ran our local cable system.

As it stands now. There really is no reward for being a long time customer. Especially for those of us who are paying for highend services each and every month. If I was in a casino - my loyalty and spending would get me treated really well. But when you purchase services from other companies - in other industries - they really seem to care less about rewarding long time customers.

It's all about obtaining new customers and adding to your numbers. Which is all well and good. But if you don't treat your current bunch of customers right. Then churn can easily become a factor.

Oh so I don't see the commercials because I have DirecTv nor am I eligible for the same reason.

Well if they didn't charge so much for digital cable and offer so few channels maybe I would be able to disconnect and have my roomate sign up.

Existing customers should all complain - phone calls, email etc. Call the those in higher offices as well. Contact the president. Customer ill will is the last thing they want. BB service is way overpriced to begin with. When they were @home I paid only $29.95 per month - not $44.95. Insight takes over and goes crazy. Then they penalize us for not taking a digital box where they can spy on people with it. It's been said that those boxes record sounds and then sends them back to analysts. Not the voice directly but the waves from sounds people make such as emotions, laughter, anger, shouting, etc. Insight has lower standard rates in various locations and existing customers should not let up until they lower our rates as well.

I agree with the pricing problem 100%!! But I am curious where you have recvd the info on the box's that "spy" on the user...do you have some more info that you can share...

"Then they penalize us for not taking a digital box where they can spy on people with it."

I think some of the comments made after that statement might just be a bit far-fetched. But if they can be proven - wow what a nice lawsuit that would make. Now it is true that just like a Tivo or ReplayTV or Vegas rewards program. That a cable box could be used to obtain usage data. Such as the shows you watch - when you watch etc. Similar to how Nielsen pulls their data. I'm not sure if the cable boxes can be set to give as much data as a Nielsen households box. But with a DVR unit - they may be able to. So for some who have privacy concerns. There is in fact something to the comment "your cable box is spying on you". Although this isn't much different than if you use a credit card. All your transactions are tracked. And could in fact be used by marketers to sell you products that your prone to buying. This data has been used in law enforcement investigations to track suspects etc.

Update I called them back finally, as I first emailed and then they called back a couple of days later and I finally got to calling them and she was willing to give me the $70 dollar plan once I said I would jump to satellite, but I could lose my email address and currently I use it for most everything so that was not really an option. She would basically delete my account from their system and and enter me as a new customer. So it is my fault I can't get the new price because I depend on my email.
