| [NV] packet loss to one game server
over the past month or so i suffer from frequent ping spikes to a game server i rent. these disruptions only last for a second or two at the most but they make the game impossible to play. the experience is comparable to playing a multiplayer online game while uploading something in the background...its just miserable.
my rig is spyware free. my 5mb connection suffers no such disruption when playing the same game and connected to different servers..its only this one particular ip i'm having trouble with. my friends are not having the same problem when connected to this server. technical support from the gameserver company blames my isp and says nothing is wrong on their end. i contacted a level 2 cox support tech 2 weeks ago with the problem, he said their engineers would check into it...but it appears they havent fixed anything.
here is a traceroute to the server. can someone point me in the right direction?

| the pauses can sometimes occur right after each other while other times i can go an hour before an interruption. although thats rare.
and yes, its both transcontinental and transatlantic. vegas to the uk.
as i said in my first post...i went almost a year playing on this server without experiencing this. its only been in the past month or so that while my ping has stayed relatively the same at 160..it will spike to 700-999. |

| The problem here is trying to figure out what hope in the chain is causing this problem. I ran a trace to the IP listed and got similar ping spreads, as would be expected. I'm at work, so can test the cox routing, but wouldn't expect that much of a difference.
Can the trace program you are using run a UDP trace? If so, try running a trace when you game next, it might help pinpoint the router causing this issue. -- Plvres crapvlas qvam gladivs |

| That would kinda depend on how bandwidth intensive the application is. You will get an increase in ping times overall, but you should still get an idea of where the problem may be when you experience these outages. -- Plvres crapvlas qvam gladivs |
