| reply to indy0365 they had a reverse issue out there last week but it was fixed, them houses are not very big so i imagine you have about 4 cable outlets....if you are loosing sync or have slow speeds you may need to set up a service call and we can come check it out |

Signal to Noise Ratio 25 dB ---------is to low
flucates between 25 an 34 ( at night)
3 outlets only 1 being used went to the darkside dish network
cable hook up is main line comes into spiltter 1 hookup is internet one is not in use on the splitter
when internet was orginally installed had to install a new outlet when house was built used rg59 new outlet uses rg6
daughter movd in had to move computer into my room tried hooking it up there the internet no go
went to walmart go 25 ft rg 6 used like a extension cord seems to work
wife just loves me for that |
|
Klownin3468 Premium join:2004-09-06 Cicero, IN | reply to indy0365 we need to get rid of the spliter and give you some better wire then walmart wire, or just put a new outlet in the room.. |
|
robbym627 Premium join:2003-09-14 Springfield, IL | reply to indy0365 I agree remove the splitter and run a new outlet. I would imagine a video trap is inline so you can't very well check channels 2 and 3 to see what they look like. Could possibly need a new drop as well. |

I am not currently experiencing any problems with my modem, but I was when I posted this the last time, downstream power level was -19, insight changed my port on the splitter, and I got this.
I just started as a sub-contractor for insight in evansville, and will check things out when I get my meter. |
|
robbym627 Premium join:2003-09-14 Springfield, IL | The modem will give you more info than the meter. Going by what you posted you have a big problem. I need more info like splitter configuration, number of outlets. As I stated above it could be that or a bad drop or a few other things. |

| reply to robbym627 Why the change in mind about signal levels Robby? In a previous thread (»Gaming on insight) you stated the below information.
A -16 will work the cutoff we use when installing the service is -15 but I have seen the service work with no problems as low as -18. There is a very good chance that it might not be the modem or a splitter it could be low levels due to temperature outside. If the temp flucuates that can cause signal issues as well.
According to you at -14 he should be having no problems. Perhaps you should figure out what you believe and stick with that. |

| reply to indy0365 splitter config
drop comes to house, goes into a NIU. (NIU is not in use) line from NIU to house box, which has a 3 way splitter (last I knew) 2 of the 3 are for me, the 3.5 goes to my living room, 1 of the 7s goes to my bedroom, and the other 7 goes to my neighbor in the same building (i wouldn't consider this place an MDU, more or less a triplex) in the living room the Insight tech put a 2 way behind my tv, one to the dvr box and one to my modem.
I'm moving soon, girlfriend's mom owns the new place, and since I have the DVR, it should be an Insight tech that installs it in the new place (in Evansville, the contractors don't do the hi-def boxes) If I don't like the way he does it, I'll redo it. |
